sorry if there's already a thread about him. i searched but couldn't find anything really......

i've heard a lot about this guy and i'm interesting in checking out his music. i'm just wondering if there any fans of his on here who could give me good advice on which albums i should start with?

I think Go Plastic is the best place to start. My favorite by him is Music Is Rotted One Note, but I think Go Plastic is a better place to start.

Absolutely love the Sqaurepusher. Being a bass player I can't help but admire him. Just a brilliant musician but his albums often have some filler on them but there's always some standout tracks.

Hard Normal Daddy is probably my favorite of his and in my opinion a good place to start.

So chill. I guess I lean towards his more jazzy tracks.

I started with Hello Everything (2006) which I think is excellent. His new album Ufabulum is fantastic as well. The new video is definitely worth watching. Hard Normal Daddy is his de facto 90's classic, though I'm sure some would argue that. You really can't go wrong with most of his material, so pick whatever.

Huge fan of his music, pretty much up to "Shobaleader One". Shobaleader One and beyond I've absolutely hated.

Where to start is sorta tough, because is music is varied... I'd say it's more where you come from musically. I remember hearing "Come on My Selector" when I was 13 or 14 and thinking it was terrible, then using Exciton (from the "Welcome to Europe EP") as a starting point, leading to "Hello Everything", then "Feed Me Weird Things" and "Hard Normal Daddy" and beyond in a chronological order.

When in doubt, chronological order!

Personally I recommend Hard Normal Daddy for the more classic breakcore/d'n'b approach, Just a Souvenir for the quirky songwriting and craftsmanship, and Ultravisitor for everything. In no particular order.

But keep in mind that I love Shobaleader One, so I may not be the most neutral and unbiased guy to give recommendations.

Someone asked me what I was listening to the other day at work and I called him "bass pusher" by accident. His playing is so awesome it made my brain glitch.

Yeah, Music Is Rotted One Note is my favourite too. It has this noir sound which is edgier than all these jazz-sampling downtempo albums but not as goofy as Rephlex-style drum and bass.

As for My Red Hot Car, for some reason I like the "Girl" version better - the one in Go Plastic is a bit too choppy I think...

I once dreamt I was in Squarepusher city. There were lone, tall buildings with old ads half-erased from the side walls, some cars parked around and lots of action which was nowhere to be seen. Then there was something about elevators, fixing elevators, jazz music, corrugated steel fences, abandoned cars, visiting someone with someone who was visiting me, being a student and detectives. (i'm daft as a brush)

Haha squarepusher city, I can actually picture that well. That made me remember that a few years ago I had the flu and I had these crazy fever hallucinations and "square rave" was playing on a loop in my head for 2 days.

Boy, are you all making me feel dated. Saw my first Squarepusher concert back in 2001 when 'Go Plastic' had just been released, the set at Coachella caught on video where he pounded Vodka the whole time.

For me the peak will always be 'Ultravisitor' before he started scaling back to make things more accessible. But I'd never start someone there, 'Go Plastic' and 'Hard Normal Daddy' probably being the best introductions.

Tetra-Sync! To this day I remember the bus trip in which that track made my mind blow up. It's even more amazing when it's paired with Circlewave, in my opinion.

Feed Me Weird Things, Hard Normal Daddy then Go Plastic. In that order....they are standout albums and chronologically you can't argue with the improvement over the years.

This Squarepusher project is amazing, that song gets really damn good at the halfway point. Designing music to be performed by a guitarist with 78 fingers and a drummer with 22 arms, shit, welcome to 2014.

Don't know so much about him, but numbers lucent kicks ass. I admire the somehow jazz-style on it. New squarepusher material its always good news. Any album do you recommend to me?
