Number Counting in Corsair

Okay, I have read this:
[DC], who, after the first few listens, believes he could hear a voice; a child's voice counting as in Gyroscope (most strongly at 2'11, as follows: 2'11 "one", 2'13 "two", 2'15 "three, 2'17 "four" ...), almost as a sort of faint "echo" of sunshine recorder the start of the album. (Since writing that, another correspondent has expressed agreement that there is a voice here: that it sounds like a voice vocodered with a white noise source - which would produce just such a kind of "speaking static" - and then filtered).
And I still hear nothing. I have played the song as loud as I can, listened to those given times over and over again, and I still hear nothing. And I even know what I'm supposed to be listening for!
Has anyone here heard the number counting in this song? Because I sure haven't.

Never heard anything like that and I couldn't hear anything in Ableton either, filtering the sound. Don't think there's any truth in it.
There's this though:

Oh, that's pretty cool and works so well.

I can definitely hear it; it's a bit of a stretch and I had to edit it w/ noise removal (of some of the main track) in Audacity to hear it initially but I can sort of get it from the unedited song.
Here's what I came up with. Each of the four bursts is a number, with one being the clearest as the wiki page says.

Think you could upload the version you've made? Because I keep listening to it over and over again and I swear I'm hearing nothing. Even the faintest voice I should be able to hear.

Okay, now I kind of hear it, at least, I can vaguely see how one could maybe get a "one" out of that first burst.
Not sure I'd ever classify that as a voice, but neat. Lemme listen to the whole song again and see if I can pick it up.

I can "hear" it, but I still don't think it's really there. It's our minds playing tricks, rather, because we really try to hear it. But, of course, it would be extremely cool if I was wrong and the counting really was there.

Well when you change the wording from "counting" or "voice" to something like "thumping/bursting" at 2'11'', then I can hear it, on both the non-edited and the edited version posted above. Now that I have heard it, I dunno if it's really counting at all, just seems like a slightly magnified beat a couple of times.
But I guess it's cool how what seems to be a repetitive song has some minor, very subtle changes throughout. Similar to how "Farewell Fire" is not a loop, as often believed, but actually a live track, in the sense that it changes a little bit as it gets softer.

I actually hear it too. It really is a stretch but there could be something there. There aren't any samples or anything like that, but the drone when it creates those slight resonating peaks after 2:10 they do kind of sound like numbers. There are like certain formants and overtone patterns/sequences that resemble the pronunciation of numbers. I still would be surprised though if it was intentional.

It kind of strikes me as intentional, given that it doesn't occur anywhere else in the song, and many other tracks on Geogaddi featured numbers stations or recordings of numbers. It would fit the theme.

I agree, essentially yet another example of pereidolia.
But I must say I checked it out on laptop speakers and didn't expect to find anything but still it does resemblethose...

The thing is, something like that is extremely difficult to controllably create, especially with analog equipment, I'd say close to impossible given that it's a drone that is slightly detuned and then overdriven like that. You really can't make something like that deliberately happen on any sort of ordinary analog music equipment. Similar overtones occur throughout the track, that just happens to resemble speech slightly more than the rest.

There could be hundreds of voices in Corsair (which is my belief, and the same for every other song they've made basically).
BUT
It's a thing called destructive editing.
