Has anyone heard of this band? This band is what got me into BoC in the first place.
To Me they have a smilar vibe just check out the track hlemmur by sigur rós it kinda reminds me of sixtyniner sans drums
also another little fun fact Sigur Rós' second album has a drone kinda last track entitled "Avalon" which consists of slowed down strings (Semena Mertvykh) anyone?

I'm a big fan of Sigur Rós. I got into them about an year before they released Takk... and have followed closely since them. That is, until Valtari came out, and it took me a long while to listen to it. The first time I played it, I was on a bus trip, and I was going through a kind of problematic phase, and when Dauðalogn came on, it was crushing me emotionally so much that I had to stop. I'm still scared of listening to it...

But their new album has got me excited again. When I read it was coming up on June 14, I even thought to myself "Screw Tomorrow's Harvest! THIS is the big deal!". 5 seconds later, I was back to my senses.

But they're still great.

Kveikur has leaked.

I'm uncertain about Sigur Rós. I really love their debut album, Von. But just this. There's some songs on Valtari (like Dauðalogn) which I can really enjoy, but still I think I prefer their darkest stuff.

BUT, from what I heard of Kveikur, it seems it'll become my new favorite by them.

Kveikur is amazing. Unlike alot of other Sigur Ros fans, I really love takk. This album basically is the older stuff cominbed with the rich sound and ''epicness'' (hate the word, don't know how to describe it in another way) of Takk. It's loud, it's well produced. I absolutely love it.

Taak is the one for me as well. And I think I could watch Heima on repeat for the rest of my life and not get tired of it.

I actually just found out they'll be playing a show in my area and am hoping to score some tickets in the next couple days. I did read earlier today that one of the band members left the band, which I was surprised to hear as from what I gathered he was a key element to their sound. Not sure if he had any input on the new record, but am looking forward to checking it out regardless.

Scored 8th row tickets today for the show in Miami. Can't wait.

I'm disappointed to hear that Kjartan Sveinsson has left the band - his keyboards and string arrangements represent some of the band's highlights for me.

Whilst I agree that Kjartan added a lot to the band, something needed to be shaken up as I felt they were losing their dynamism and excitement. I found Valtari pretty boring (and I like ambient stuff!) and the band are better than just providing soundtracks for nature documentaries.

Kveikur, on a couple of listens, sounds like a great antidote to the relative tedium of Valtari. I think it'll be the album after this that we will see if Kjartan's absence is noticeable.

Aye, I wasn't particularly taken with Valtari either and I'm an ambient fan as well, yet to hear Kveikur.
