Apparently 6Music's Freak Zone tonight starting at 8pm is a "bluffer's guide to Boards of Canada". Maconie's had form before, so this should be good.

On now, and going by the introduction, the two TH tracks being played are radio firsts? I'm wondering which ones...

I can't help bit think he'll go for the most "difficult" track on the album and go for Jacquard Causeway as one. Hopefully the bluffer's background will include an old track or two as well.

Got to this a bit late, has he played any yet? There's some jazz on at the moment, is this one of the tracks the presenter suggested had an influence on BoC? What's the gist of this 'program' anyway? Just general promotion of alternative music?

The Freak Zone can be best described as, erm, eclectic, and I defy anyone to love everything Maconie play on the show.

Yep, bit of a mistake there. It's alright though because all of it is great. Besides even Peel made mistakes here and there.

Yeah, can't complain, "New Seeds" is a great choice anyway. In fact I don't think there could have been a disappointing choice.

I wonder if the choice has something to do with the cosecha transmisiones intro at the end of the track? Goes back to the start of the whole album promotion, might ring a few bells with people who didn't follow it all the way through?

That's what I was thinking - very appropriate!

Not to mention New Seeds is one of the best constructed and accessible songs on the album in my opinion

I've missed most of this one but I'll play it back later. Right now what I'm hearing is crazy free jazz. Did anyone hear the Freak Zone he did a while ago where Music Has the Right to Children was the featured album? Maconie is a fan. I listen to the freak zone fairly often and he generally has very eclectic and good taste, it's usually a very interesting show.

I'm listening now and hoping he doesn't mention Roygbiv because he always pronounces it Royg-ee-biv, which makes me sad

It felt to me like he'd been handed the information and the tracks (mis labelled) and told to get on with it, rather than being a big fan himself

That's not true, I get that you might think that if you're not familiar with him but I listen to RadMac on 6music most days and I'm familiar enough with him and his music taste to know that he genuinely likes them. Like I said, he dedicated a whole freak Zone to MHTRTC before and he speaks highly of them. He might not be familiar with the new tracks and may have been given incorrect information... but that's not to say he doesn't care...

I hear you, and that goes pretty much with what I've heard. I don't know, it just felt more stilted than I hoped it would be. I like Stuart Maconie, he is the only real contender for John Peel's crown imho

True. I suppose they could have dedicated more time to Boards' in last nights show, they played a mere two tracks from the album and didn't even play IABPOITC in full! Same goes for To Here Knows When which they only played a part of.
