Any ISIS fans in the house? I personally consider them the Boards of Canada of metal, and they are one of the few bands which mean as much to me as BoC does. Panopticon is a triumph of a record, and to this day I haven't found anything else in the genre that can compare. A perfect balance of massive heaviness and beautiful melody.

Here's an instrumental tune from that album, a great segway into their sound for those who haven't heard them before.

Ah man, I remember loving the album Oceanic for a while. I took a nice bike ride once and listened to that album and it blew me away.

I just bought a vinyl copy of Panopticon; it's a great album, and I'd say my only critique of it is that it starts on a peculiar note. I'm somewhat more of a GSY!BE fan.

Love ISIS, definitely in my top bands of all time. Unique music, it's aggressive and relaxing all at the same time.

haha ya never seen them live or heard there music before that night but i've been a fan ever since. definitely a perfect blend between aggressive and relaxing

One of my good friends caught them on one of their first tours, they were opening for whatever band he went to see. He said he had never heard a band sound that heavy live.

Add to that my girlfriend has seen them live TWICE, and I've never seen them. Still holding out for the day they decide to cash in on a reunion tour.

I did hear recently that Jeff Caxide is making a record with the singer from the Deftones. Not sure I can tolerate that dude's voice long enough to hear Caxide's thunderous bass, but I have a glimmer of hope it will be worth a listen. Aaron Turner's solo stuff hasn't really done it for me.

If anyone needs me, I'll be watching this video... crying.

And yeah, there's another Isis out there, although I haven't heard their stuff. They both pop up on Spotify when searching the name, and I'd love to see the look on their fans faces when they crank up the volume and click on a "real" ISIS album by accident.

'in the absence of truth' is one of my favorite records along with 'oceanic'.

shame they broke up.

i guess three or four of the members of isis formed a new band with chino from deftones called 'palms'.

i heard of sample of the record though and wasn't really feelin it.
