You mean like spending the last 17 years perfecting a way to get into our subconscious, and now dropping an album that plants some really disturbing ideas in it???

Yeah, time went by. Maybe they see things differently now.

I love you man

You're like a troll but you're on the opposite side of the light/dark spectrum in that you're a troll that makes people laugh

With Geogaddi, they told us of their knowledge of evil secrets. With Tomorrow's Harvest, they tell us that they are fully evil beings. Tisk tisk. Another band lost to the allure of satan.

this album isn't about them it's about the environment, which, since we are (despite our culture's contrary belief) inseparable from the environment, it is about them,

us,

wiat

I like how that started and would like to add that if Geogaddi was about them, then Tomorrow's Harvest is about you - the human being. They are no more evil than the sum-total of humanity and our contribution to this now, very dirty, great marble.

Tomorrow's Harvest is just another mystery piece to the forever forming puzzle known as Boards of Canada. All we can do is hope they keep on releasing tunes, old or new.

Don't think 'evil' is the right term. Are you maybe referring to how happy The Campfire Headphase sounded in comparison to the more somber themes of TH?
In fact BoC have always had a Dark side. Both MHTRTC and Geogaddi contain songs that may hint towards the subject of pedophilia for example. (Beware the friendly stranger et al.)

My guess: you started listening from TCH and assumed that was the benchmark.

That could be so easily misunderstood by the tabloids! It's probably safer to say that some of those song titles reference how child abuse etc. was portrayed by the media and authority figures to children in the '70s. I personally think of it as more to do with the way we were taught as children to develop a natural mistrust of strangers, and the loss of innocence that goes with that.

I doubt the tabloids are interested in my posts. Anyway, I just paraphrased from This Hauntology Article which was posted in another thread (see the paragraph beginning: "Another vignette on Geogaddi".)

Isn't discussion of uncomfortable truths what artists do when making art?
