I am fascinated by a few random tracks by Tim Hecker and would like to start exploring more of his music. Any recommendations on a good starting point?

I'd start with Haunt Me. It's more on the ambient side, pretty calm and thought provoking, and still with the glitch influence. It's my personal favourite. The rest are noisier, but not bad at all, so I don't think you'll go much wrong if you start with whatever album you find most interesting.

Ravedeath, 1972. The magnum opus of an artist who already has a perfect canon

I like An Imaginary Country. Some nice bass riffs throughout.

Might as well throw in another opinion here; I would say 'Radio Amour' is stunning, probably his most accessible, and a great place to start. Takes me far away....

Nice, Ill give that one a try. I was initially dissapointed in Ravedeath, 1972 but im sure it will grow on me eventually.

I was as well and it did.

Someone wrote funnily about Ravedeath on WATMM, that it's like a constant stream of cumshots instead of slowly reaching eargasm. I'll never forget that metaphor. So I dunno, maybe it's not as dynamic in composition. It might be my second favorite though, still remember when I went out on a winter night to have the first listen in complete isolation. It was amazing.

Borderlands is also personally important for me, I think it's his best track. So much emotion in that one. Bit like 'Haunt Me' compressed into five minutes.

Another Kranky artist I am getting really into. This guy is incredible.

I got to see him live w/ Oneohtrix Point Never back in the fall. Great Show!

Tim Hecker is a HELL of an artist and I've been so happy to recently add Ravedeath, Sketches, Virgins, and Mirages to my vinyl collection. I haven't been able to tear myself away from listening.

Anyone who wants some good atmosphere, listen to anything by Tim Hecker.

Been rinsing Ravedeath lately. Phenomenal.

Start by Radio Amor. A friend of mine introduced me Song of the Highwire Shrimper, and then I was just looping the album of how good it is, and still is.


And definitely one of my most personal turning point artists that I've ever listened.

Count me in. Late to the party but between TH and Oneohtrix there's enough to keep me interested for a long time. Ravedeath 1972 is unbelievable.

we all agree then its totaly awesome!!

Virgins is my favourite. Feels a lot like the album cover which is nice for a change seeing as I don't like his other covers combined with his music with the exception of Radio Amor.
