The song "In the Annexe" pretty much has no explination and ignored by the fans. But I've noticed that many fans call it creepy, along with my non-boc family. But the song has strange aspects that give me a warm feeling. Like, really warm. I'd like to hear theories, opinions, intel about the vague track.
When I hear this song, I imagine some blurry scene involving some girl in a white dress twirling around some small backyard surrounded by trees, blocking the sun from filling the yard with sunlight. It's wierd, since the scene feels like a memory, but it isn't.
That, or surviving the apocalypse, and after the peril discovering civilisation has more hope than expected.

This is probably my favorite BOC vignette. I think a lot of the creepiness comes from the context that the title adds. The melody and the refraction are really beautiful, but being in an annex kind of implies that you are separated from what is going on elsewhere. Sometimes I get a feeling of incarceration from this song.

It's another track whose creepiness I just can't understand. It's a very warm and sunny track to me.

There's some child chant/talk/singing whatever in the background that's pretty difficult to hear, but someone here filtered the track a bit to make it more audible. It's a pretty interesting detail. Should check again to see if they're actually saying something..

The song is BoC paying tribute to Anne Frank's spirit.

I agree, the title and voices in the song always struck me as referencing Anne Frank.

Absolutely spot on, this track is evocative of being at primary school for me, being a bit detached and a daydreamer, sitting in a classroom but staring out the window, my mind elsewhere.

story of my life, I'd been listening to the Blackbird as in the beginning of the track.

Pretty spot on though...

Same here. Helps that at my school there was an overflow classroom called the annexe (like a conservatory built onto the side of an existing room) that we'd occasionally have reading lessons in on sunny days.
