I had 'Alpha Phase' and 'Delta Phase' on an ambient mixtape given to me in 1995 but no track listing. I loved the tracks but had no idea who the artist was until 2000 when they were finally identified by a guy who worked in an indie record shop, and also had the Blood Music: Pentamerous Metamorphosis cd in stock! (This is the same fella that introduced me to Boards Of Canada......what a guy!)
That album and '76:14' are absolute classics

Aw yiss. Loved these guys back in the day (well, I still do but for me they went off the boil a bit when they got into the more dance-y stuff). Tracking down their stuff was always fun. The Blood Music CD was probably the best thing they did, just pure indulgent excess. Alpha Phase I think it is where the beat kicks in at something like the 4 minute mark? Their remixes were always good. Did an excellent one for Slowdive http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvjdlyYbrdY , Aphex http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G58J_o1-nbg and others. I think it was that I heard first of theirs actually. Le Soleil Et La Mer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwDkxj7KL7s blew my mind first time I heard it, 4/4 drumbeat used as 3/4. The whole 76:14 album... fuck. Amazing stuff.

Probably part of the reason I didn't get into BoC till later, actually, took my mind a while to switch gears from one sound to the other and really dial into it.

Incredibly ace duo, and one of the most important electronic bands for me. Too many good moments with 76:14 to remember.

i love them. i first heard them on a Select magazine mix tape in 1994. i still regularly listen to 76:14....one of the best.

So do I. I think I listened to it non-stop for months in my car after I bought it - it was autumn time and the album has become very much associated with that season for me.

It's great for stargazing in the autumn. Just lying somewhere drunk or whatever with your friend and hoping to catch a falling star with 14:31, mesmerizing.

Reload has always been more avant-garde and industrial. I've got 40-50 tracks on my hard drive in that style, but then I'll start writing a new project and it takes on its own kind of life. In my head, I think I can just do all of these projects at once, but it's impossible, and the music sits there for too long. I've been wanting to reissue the old Reload album, but I've also been saying I'm going to release another Reload record for like 10 years, so I've been trying to figure out exactly how I'm going to attack that.

Its a fun article cos it goes into all the aliases and why they happened.

I meant a whole new Global Communication album. I remember there was some promises made around the time they came back with the 2-disc compilation thing? Shame though if there's no mention of this. I'll read that article with pleasure.

Pulusha (Mark Pritchard and Kirsty Hawkshaw) - Isolation EP from 1997. very much in the Global Communication vein. i posted it on the Nothing Is Real thread as like that tune for me the real emotional kicker is in the bass. though you might need speakers to hear the bass as my laptop sound is awful.
