For those that celebrate halloween, what are your plans this year?

I'm going to dress as a creepy antique porcelain doll and I'm going to the procession of the ghouls at st john the divine's cathedral in nyc.

St. John's is one of the coolest places I've ever been to, I highly reccomend it to anyone visiting nyc. It's a surreal place and they always have really awesome art installations.

Anyway, they screen a silent horror film and play music on the organ, then have a parade with amazing puppets and costumes, I've always wanted to go.



Anyone else got plans this year?

Apparently they even have "naughty" costumes for toddlers now. W almart is selling a "naughty kitty" costume for like kindergarten aged girls

That is beyond disgusting.

Yeah it's pretty depressing. I really want to have children in the next few years and I think about all that kind of marketing being directed at them and it hurts my heart.

Less depressing, here is the last art installation I saw at st. Johns, the artist is named Jane Alexander and her amazing paper mache sculptures were posed all around the cathedral, it was very eerie. Her work is about apartheid in south Africa though, I guess that is pretty depressing.



That place has a reputation of being a "satanic church" which is kind of funny. They're definitely not, but they do always have really strange and challenging art up, and there is tons of esoteric symbolism in the architecture.

Rainier, that place looks awesome!! If I ever get to travel to NYC for Halloween time, I will HAVE to check it out. Sounds incredible!

I am still trying to make up my mind what to be for Halloween. It's my favourite holiday, and while I'm sure there will be a party SOMEWHERE amongst my friends the ramp up to the 31st is the most fun for me. Watching horror movies, reading spooky books, getting in the spirit. October is the best month for this very reason.

October *is* the best month. I love foggy October nights. There are so many beautiful old graveyards around here too, and they're so nice when all the leaves start to turn. I need to start doing grave rubbings again.

My sister and I are thinking of going as Gene and Tina Belcher from Bob's Burgers this year. Too bad we don't have someone to be Louise.
