does anybody else get a ridiculously strong feeling of nostalgia when listening to this track? the song is only about a minute long, and it kind of just loops. yet it might be the deepest track ive ever heard.




i cant quite describe the place this song takes me to (reminds me of). but this isn the only track that contains that same feeling. ive noticed that a lot of their work takes me to a certain place that cant quite be described.

Their most nostalgic song for me was the 30 second excerpt of "Duffy".

Yes, it's the same for me too. I love this track, I think it's amazing what they can do with a 'simple' loop in 60 seconds. The mood of the song instantly grabs me and can elevate me when I'm totally down.. Their tracks with similar powerful effect on me are Sherbet Head, Kiteracer 2, 5.9.78 and sometimes Amo Bishop Roden.

Yes this is a very powerful track! I'd love to know how they created that melody sound.

yes exactly! even the songs you mentioned as examples are all tracks that do the same for me as well.


its nice when people understand what i mean when i describe certain feelings i can get from music. not everyone understands what its like to "feel" music

if you don't understand the significance of collapse you may as well just not listen to them honestly. it represents the SINGLE most important point of tomorrow's harvest.

I actually stopped listening to them for that very reason...I feel like I'm not worthy of their music anymore. It's a damn shame, as I'm not able to start my day properly without listening to Music For Pylons for 20 minutes straight.
But joke aside, I see that Collapse has its place on the album and I think it still contributes to the atmosphere of TH in a way. Standing for itself it's just one of their weakest tracks in my opinion.
But but but wrong thread for this I guess, so topic again:

Heard From Telegraph lines might be my favorite BoC song. I can't put into words how it makes me feel. It's completely different from that typical kind of nostalgia I get from most of their music, which is what I love about Trans Canada Highway in general.

Oh yes, and there is a muffled sound behind the loop (made with guitars, maybe?):

when songs like "heard from the telegraph lines, ataronchronon, or sherbert head" being to play. i swear i begin to feel as though i just took a strong dose of mushrooms or something, and they are kicking in..the feeling is beyond powerful. if i put on one of these tracks, its like i immediately become centered, and begin to feel an emotion that is indescribable. yet the feeling\emotion is very familiar. as though their music is showing me something that i had forgot.

Funnily enough I think "Under the Coke Sign" is a more evocative track - though that is not to deny the power of "Heard from Telegraph Lines"

I get that same ridiculous feeling from Under the Coke Sign. It kills me on the inside.

under the coke sign is like an extension of the feeling from heard from the telegraph lines. they are both equal if you ask me

very true. constants are changing is one that hit me the other night. also, over the horizon radar...the feelings this song evokes is just incredible...

i agree. because in alot of music, not just BOC. the intro and/or outro to a song is sometimes the most powerful moment of the track. even if it may be a short piece.



for example. there is a piece played (on banjo i believe), at the end of slow this bird down. and even though the part is only about 30 seconds. it might be the most important piece to the campfire headphase. there is a piece at the end of chromakey dreamcoat that is absolutely beautiful as well. and i feel as though the piece at the end of chromakey dreamcoat and the piece at the end of slow this bird down, are connected in a sense.


man. the campfire headphase is so powerful its indescribable.
