I ordered the whole lot of vinyl represses when they were announced. And I've had them all sitting on myself for the last couple months, waiting for my bank account to allow me to purchase a new turntable. Well, that finally happened, and it arrived today.

Now I have the task of figuring out if I have defective pressings like so many others have. And while I know there are many threads discussing the issues, is there anywhere that lists all of the known defects? Something that will allow me to check quickly and streamline the listening process?

I know that TCH had some static issues, and sadly I've already confirmed that mine has it as well. Besides that, I've heard conflicting reports. Some people say IABP sounds great, others report problems. Same for Geogaddi. And it seems Twoism has issues too?

Anyway, is there (or can we make) a comprehensive list of the issues? As a follow up, does anyone know of the status of the fixes / represses Warp is supposedly working on?

I just got my copies of Twoism and The Campfire Headphase from my local record store, and truly, there are issues. My copy of Twoism was wrapped so tight in the shrink wrap, that the record warped a little. It also had a LOT of dust and debree on it. On TCH, It seemed as though someone had already played it 20 times. It too was dusty, and had scratches on Satellite Anthem Icarus, Dayvan Cowboy, Slow This Bird Down, and my favorite track, Farewell Fire. That last one is what really pissed me off, because it was just constant noise throughout the track.

Corsair had lots of noise the left channel of side 5 of Geogaddi. I also heard similar noise on 1969 and another song or two on the album, but overall, Geogaddi sounds excellent.

These were the exact same marks on the B side of one of my copies of IABPOITC. I may have to doubt the validity of the sources that say this was pressed in a different country/plant than the other EPs and TCH, because how would they end up with the same defective markings?

Aside from the one copy with scratches, play your Amo Bishop Roden and you should hear the noise in the last minute of the song that all 5 of my copies had.

I tried to post my pics in the other thread, but it wouldn't work. Do you have to have a certain amount of posts to be able to link photos?

That's unacceptable. Did you return them for a refund or at least a replacement? WARP really screwed the pooch with these reissues as far as Quality Control.

Couldn't. My record store doesn't accept records back after they've been opened. And I'm also pretty shy when it comes to making refunds.... I don't like to be a nuisance. They would probably think that I made the scratches anyway. I guess I'll just save up for a 2000 copy of IABPOITC and a 2006 copy of Trans Canada Highway. Plus, there colored and original, so it's not that bad of an investment.

That's such a bullshit attitude from them. What are you supposed to do? Use your x-ray vision to check the record is ok? Feel for you, I really do. Email Warp/Bleep and see what they can do for you.

No. Go to the record store and tell them the truth. There are hundreds/thousands(?) of copies of the album with scratches. Warp knows about it, and you have a lot of users in this forum saying that they have had issues with the vinyls too. You have saved and spent your money on those vinyls, and you have the right to get a copy in excellent condition, as you have paid for it, or to get your money back. You, as a consumer have rights, and you as a human, have the responsability and obligation to defend those rights.

Wow, umm... Didn't expect this many replies. but thanks everyone! I'll be sure to go back with receipt in hand and demand a refund/replacement. Now I just gotta practice being tough... I just really hope that the store will allow it. They usually don't trust people my age. But from what I've seen, there's a person that works there that put "Employee Recommend" on the two copies of IABPOITC. So, maybe she'll be sympathetic, assuming she's a BoC fan. Again, thanks for the encouragement everyone!
