Prompted by a thread in the BoC forum... Interested to know where you've been & enjoyed? Where do you want to go?

I've been to some amazing places - Iceland is incredible; I could happily live there - absolutely beautiful and like nowhere else. The Blue Lagoon is a brilliant experience.

Loved New York and Hong Kong - both absolutely bonkers but brilliant.

Marrakech was a hell of an experience, again utterly insane, but amazing.

Love European cities - Rome, Paris, Budapest, Prague (oh Lord, my trip to Prague - probably my most debauched trip away ever).

Really enjoy exploring the highlands of Scotland closer to home - the islands off the west coast are just wonderful.

I'd love to see more of Italy, more of the US. I've always been fascinated by Japan and after going to Morocco would really like to travel more on north Africa and the middle east. With Little_A_Northern_Souls around, the trips away might be curtailed a bit, but we really fancy exploring some of Scandinavia - Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland....

My parents both worked for a travel agency my whole life, so I've traveled a bit. They mainly sold African safaris and Galapagos cruises and stuff, but I was too young to go. I have been to all 48 contiguous states, Canada (Ontario & Banff), Mexico (Tijuana), and France (Paris). Would do them all again. I don't remember any particularly interesting anecdotes at the moment, but saving my spot here, in case I'm so inspired later.

I'm always incredibly surprised when I meet people who've barely been out of their home state! I used to work with a guy who had never even been up into the mountains, not even 20 mins from the heart of town....?!

I've been to most of Europe. Berlin being a particular highlight. Awesome, free thinking, liberal centre of culture and incredible beer/techno.

I want to visit everywhere else, particularly the Americas and Vietnam. No. 1 destination is Iceland though, that country is beautiful.

I'm completely hooked on travel since I was taken to France as a kid. It's completely taken over my life.

The most fun, crazy party places I've been are Berlin, Tokyo. Both absolutely mental, very friendly and creative, and so unique in their own way.

The most challenging, life changing travel experience was Africa. Totally transformed the way I look at the world.

The only place I didn't like as much as I thought I would was Chile.

The place I haven't been but really want to is USA, probably.

Haven't lived in England (home) now for almost nine years. Spent one year living in Korea, six years living in Madrid, and now I'm back over in Korea. I'll be leaving next year to go and live who-knows-where.

I'm heading to Thailand for 10 days the week after next; any recommendations are very welcome.

Wish I was more well traveled.

Places I've traveled to:

Germany (Heidelberg and Frankfurt)
France (Paris)

Mexico (Juarez .. that was more like a quick day trip)

U.S. Maui, Oahu, Seattle, Portland, Cannon Beach, OR, San Diego, San Francisco, Carlsbad, L.A., Atlanta, Boston, Cape Cod, seemingly most everywhere in Arizona, Washington D.C., probably a number of places I'm forgetting.

Particular favorites have been: Russia / Siberia, Mongolia including staying with nomads in part of the Gobi desert, various parts of China, Hong Kong (I still think of it as British, being an old colonial type), Vietnam (been back several times and know my way around Saigon better than my hometown of Newcastle - seriously, you've not lived until you crawl out of a criminal infested 'bar' down a Saigon back alley at 4AM, stagger home and climb into your hotel room because you've been locked out, stabbing yourself on a rusty 12 foot high fence as you go so requiring a sobering iodine 'wash' from the hotel owner. Long story). Cambodia too, although I didn't spend nearly long enough there.

Not forgetting the States either, especially the west coast which I'll always love. Yosemite, Death Valley, Big Sur, Monument Valley.

Plus the usual European haunts too. Standout locales include: Paris both for work and on holiday (and Lille on business - meh), Barcelona, Valencia (amazing place - go now, take my car), Milan. Oh and Bulgaria too, which was bark-at-the-moon mental. Ireland is great too.

I need to go to Iceland and have wanted to since I was 8, for no apparent reason whatsoever. Will probably see New Zealand at some point too as I have relatives down there. India appeals too.

^ Hong Kong is amazing, isn't it. It kind of feels like how I imagine a British city will in 40 years time.

Sounds like your trip to Saigon was along similar lines to my trip to Prague. Nothing sobers you up like feeling the business end of a semi-automatic rifle in the small of your back after the "establishment" you're in fills with "special" paramilitary police....

I've traveled Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and Thailand. Each an incredible experience. Paris is a beautiful city to spend a few days in. Also visited Spain, Italy, Greece, Denmark and Tunisia on family holidays. Hope to visit Iceland and Norway sometime soon...and also Canada and Switzerland...Faroe Islands...

Teaching English, mainly. The only downside to it all is that my CV is now useless for anything outside language teaching, which makes it practically impossible for me to ever move back to the UK and revert back to the "safety" of the default career/property ladder.

only been to Canada, briefly. no money to travel. you are all very lucky

scotland, belgium (maybe see soulwax/2manydjs if i ever get to go there), canada, japan, UK, etc

Always like going to small town areas down south of where I live
a lot of abandoned places and small towns there it just brings a feeling of inner peace around those areas

I don't travel very far

i was born in berlin & lived in cyprus....have visitied the usual holiday places like canary islands wont talk about that....also visited poland slovenia & croatia, plitivice lakes remains the most beautiful place i have ever seen.

also been to paris, didnt like it one bit. not keen for france, nope.
