this is all from the feb-march 2001 iteration of the site,

the furthest back is august 18th, 2000, and its just a broken embedded picture with the text "bring your fishing pole"

yeah, I miss the old iterations of the website, its a little too flashy post-Geogaddi. I think that pyramid of numbers is meant to describe Fibonacci sequences. I do like that they made some attempts to encourage people to get away from their PCs years ago back then, but it seems like the corporate hegemony has crushed their ability to treat their website as their own little corner of the world. If they ever break ties with Warp, I hope they go back to having a more minimalist/obscure type of website.

I was always a big fan of this version (and maybe some previous versions) that lays out their entire pre-Twoism discography:

Notice the different file names. Most of them are known, but there are three I don't think I've heard. Maybe it's just me ? dirtygreatmable, pinskeeling, surfaise... Don't remember these names.

those are remixes done by BoC. Surfaise is one of my favorite tracks actually

also if you listen to Bubbah's Tum - Dirty Great Marble (Boards of Canada Mix), 58 secs in that voice goes something like 'BOP' its so like Cold Earth, makes me think thats the track from their early days

I never noticed that Hooper Bay is listed as having been pressed on vinyl. Interesting.

Their website was cooler back then.

Those numbers are a Pascal's triangle.

In the HTML for the old "Contact" page with the flute pic, the HTML <table> element's width parameter is set to 36%:

36 shows up elsewhere in their music.

1. Number of counts in "Aquarius" before the numbers become nonlinear
2. Number of digits in the Tomorrow's Harvest album code [XXXXXX-XXXXXX, etc]
3. The sum of the integers from 1 to 36 is 666 (Geogaddi is 66 minutes 6 seconds long)

36 is also equal to 8 factorial, i.e., 8 + 7 + 6 + 5 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 1 . And, of course, 8 notes comprise an octave in traditional major / minor scales.

Control over almost completely meaningless details like this really set BoC apart, IMO.

Yup. Interesting design they had. I wonder why they got rid of it.

I wonder if they made the website back then or if it was someone from the Hexagon Sun collective. It kinda bums me out that their website is only pointing at the vinyl represses and the TH release, it could have such a personal connection to their music like the old one had.

Yes that was removed a while back. Do a search and you should find old threads that discussed the old PO Box before as I recall
