I know, right? I've been pretty lucky with seeing people live, I've seen pretty much everyone I ever wanted to see, apart from BoC and Kate Bush, and both are in my "if hell freezes over, drop everything and pay whatever" category. I'm bracing myself for the crush to get a ticket. Seeing the video for Wuthering Heights on TV was literally my first musical memory.

Not a huge fan of the Smiths, but I've never understood how such a sound guy like Johnny Marr ever saw anything in that pretentious singer of his.

I gotta say, in terms of creativity and experimentation in electronic music as we know it, Kate Bush is a massive massive massive pioneer.

In the few interviews she has done throughout her career, when she speaks about her working process, I find it so inspiring. When it comes to how I work myself as a composer, I think she may be the one who has inspired me most to date.

If the album The Dreaming, which she recorded at the age of 24, was released tomorrow, it would be called an experimental and peerless album, which it was of course, but it shows just how her work has stood the test of time.

I would give my right gonad to be at one of these shows.

Two friends of mine & I are all going on a pilgrimage to see Kate live this autumn from Los Angeles to London. When the news was announced last week we all got in touch within minutes and knew we had to do it! Now we just have to secure tix first. She was one of the first artists I loved when I was about 6.

Not a huge fan of the Smiths, but I've never understood how such a sound guy like Johnny Marr ever saw anything in that pretentious singer of his.

agreed, but the fact is people worship Morrissey.....yeah I don't understand it either lol. I like a few Smiths tracks but, and I think same goes for The Stone Roses, the media attention and constantly telling me how great they are has a negative effect on me. Turns me off. I'm only just getting into The Beatles (at 39) because nowadays I've sort of got immune to the constant media trumpeting. I hated the fucking Beatles for years/decades because of that. I was (musically) a rebellious kid and The Bloody Beatles and that Bloody Sgt Pepper was the center of my target. The whole thing does my head in, and Morrissey and all those people who worship him? Same thing.

I've chilled out a bit of late, I think.....

I agree about the Beatles, never been a fan.
In my opinion the Smiths are one of the greats, however I've never bought into the cult of Morrissey (or the cult of anyone, for that matter) - he was a great lyricist and is an amusing interviewee, but in reality very little of his solo stuff came anywhere near the group he was a part of.
I would sooner go to see a Smiths tribute band than Morrissey himself for that reason and the fact that his band are zero-finesse clodhoppers who murder any Smiths tunes that they play.
A Smiths comeback would mainly be a Holy Fuck! moment because Morrissey has said in the past something to the effect of that he'd rather eat his own testicles...
