Hi Guys,
Long time lurker here

(Boards of Canada listener since around 2004/05)
I wanted to invoke Boards of Canada interludes/vignettes/breakdowns or whatever you want to call them, I'm some what fascinated by them and there's just something about them that stands out to me I cant explain what it is! I guess thats the whole point right.
'In the Annexe' and 'I Saw Drones' gets me every time, what's your tickle?
Apologise if this has been touched on before.
I never turn up to a party without a present, so my present to you, enjoy!

I am in love with Under the Coke Sign. It gives me a very special almost unsettled feeling that I can't quite pinpoint but I welcome these kinds of emotions so I really enjoy it.

Under the Coke Sign is another favourite of mine,
I love the sound of people and movement faintly in the background in this and and also what sounds like a car/train screeching its just perfect how these guys blend their sound and environment elements in such a short space of time.

The smallest weird number. So blissfull. For some reason I always mix it up the title with An eagle in your mind, because the song feels like floating free in the air for me, hence the eagle, and the feeling of bliss the song gives me. Like a free floating eagle in my mind. Ok, I've had too much to drink, but I really do mix the title up bexause of that.

In intense isolation of Diving Station is a thing of beauty. I swam a lot as a child and I have fond memories of hiding under the diving board and watching people laugh and swim. Diving Station is a minute and a half long so I don't know if that fits, but it was the first answer that came to mind.

See
my sticky thread at the top for this, and many many more iterations of this thread. It's totally ok to bump old threads IMO.

a moment of clarity
ataronchronon
heard from the telegraph line
under the coke sign
these songs\vignettes do something to me that is indescribable. its as though i immediately become more centered than ever, and begin to feel a motion that has been long forgotten, but extremely extremely powerful. i wish i could put it into words. then again. im happy BOC have put it into music for me.
also, welcome rolodex propaganda. is your username a reference to the at the drive in song?

I love stuff like Peace/Tony/Devil, Iraq Says, and Heysanna Hosanna on Old Tunes Vol. 2.
I quite like the bit that plays at the end of Satellite Anthem Icarus, perfect transition into Peacock Tail. Kaini Industries is, obviously, fantastic, and if Olson counts, then that too is brilliant.
Energy Warning and Dandelion off Geogaddi are lovely additions to the album that just make it all the more better, and the more I listen to Beware The Friendly Stranger, the more I appreciate its sound, and Diving Station is the only thing that could have preceded You Could Feel The Sky properly.
And Telepath and Transmisiones Ferox also count I assume. Both are integral in setting TH's mood.
The vignettes are what really make BoC unique and special, it's the same reason people love Guided By Voices' short songs, it's the detail and thought that goes into every aspect of the music, even with these little songs some would pass off as filler.

I'm quite surprised that no one has mentioned the
reversed ending of satellite anthem icarus. This is probably my favorite of their vignettes, but it doesn't seem to be too popular.
