Holy hell! It's the World Cup!

Been so busy recently, the World Cup has kind of crept up on me, but here it is!

Who do we fancy? I'd love to think we have board members here from every nation represented.

I'll give my usual half-hearted support to England (I'm not patriotic in the slightest & half the squad annoy me) & will be backing the mighty Cameroon thanks to the office sweepstake.

I think the Argies have a good shout here, can you imagine how much they would love to win on Brazilian soil.

Finally! I have been waiting for this

I'm glad the FIFA is starting to use some technology. I still hope that one day there will be a video referee who has the final decision. In yesterday's match Brazil got a penalty which wasn't and Croatia made a goal which should have been a goal... it gets me all frustrated when a team wins undeserved.

This is also the first time in a while that I don't have high expectations of our(Holland) team. Tonight will be a great game with the vice WC winners. We could surprise as being the underdog now but I'm afraid Spain will win with 3 against 0.

I've got argentina in the sweepstakes at work. So I'm glad to hear they've got a shot haha.

But my backup teams are england and cambodia sooo... yeah. Bad times if Argentina go out.

I don't know anything about football, nor care, but I'm happy to conform to the usual Scottish/Glaswegian stereotype when it comes to england winning football leagues ... even if it's just for banter ;D

Rooting for the Netherlands ofcourse, but my money is on Brazil or Argentina. Looks like the referees are gonna play a very big part in this World Cup series.

Great game last night, despite the result. Exciting football in the first half from both teams. Pirlo makes my jaw drop, what a supremely cool man.

Absolute class. A proper footballer and proof positive that the first yard really is in your head. 35 years old and barely broke into a jog, yet ran the game. Again.

To paraphrase David Platt when talking about Franco Baresi, you just know if you got his shirt at the end of the game it would smell of Aramis rather than sweat.

Italy and Juve know he can boss a game so they create a plan round this aspect. But yeah, he is absolutely astonishing. I was disappointed England didn't keep that intensity going, I know it was hot out there, but as soon as the game slowed up Italy were the beneficiaries.
