1986: michael formed a new band, this time with a full line-up of drums, bass, guitars, vocals. once played a cover of "L.A." by The Fall, who spookily turned up eleven years later on a Skam compilation "0161", Skam being the first label to release a Boards of Canada EP.

innaresting bio there. There is an old-tuney quality to that track for sure, might be real...idk I'm to stoned. The tune is pretty silly and unimpressive though, he must have been r8 young.

Well, I'm a bit sceptical about this one - according to Discogs, this song was also featured on a bonus disc of their 1997 album "Levitate", and it was written by J Nagle and ME Smith.

Also, I've listened to their song "L. A.", and I don't think this is a remix of it. (Also, why would they release a remix of a 12-year-old song).

D.O.S.E. is an alias of Simon Spencer, who was in a band Inch. In 1999, Inch and Mark Smith (member of The Fall) made a single together, so I think he's not Mike

Inch collaborated with Mark E Smith and released a song called "Inch" which was signed to Parlophone in 1999. Inch were also involved in the Pete Waterman funded project called "D.O.S.E" which featured Mark E Smith. This led to the beginnings of producing the "Levitate" album.

I think Mike isn't working there, but who knows...

I think you are completely misunderstanding the original article. It doesn't say anything about Mike being involved in the track on the 0161 compilation - he had nothing to do with it. It just says that it's a coincidence that he did a cover version of LA by the Fall, and they both ended up releasing music on the Skam label much later.

Whatever it is and whoever made it, I like it. I can hear some bits and pieces in there that I swear have been samples other places, most notable the part at 1:40 where the dude starts talking, it sounds exactly like the voice used in Glitter Freeze by the Gorillaz.

well the singer from the Fall (who you can hear in this track) is singing/speaking in "Glitter Freeze" so that explains it

I like it. Has some Coldcut vibes, with some 242 mixed in for good measure. I like 0:40-1:00 or so... and I also like the end, where they forget to shut down the machine and it starts over. The cover is maybe my favorite part though.

Would maybe buy an album maybe (but only on a -20% discount). Maybe.
