Soooo, since ello is all new and hip, I'm on it as well. (

I have some invites left btw, if people are interested.
It's a bit quiet and buggy on there, but i think it has potential. As a more artsy tumblr...

The success of this depends on how many people in your surrounding will be active on there. I'm on diaspora for 2 years now and I only got one friend there which makes it a pretty dead place...

What is Ello and why do they have the audacity to think they can pull a "heh, we're invite only NANANANA" stunt?
Isn't it just a social network that is a bit clunky right now? That's all I see.

It's mainly invite-only because the whole site is in beta, and they don't have the features and capacity yet to go free for all.
It's a bit clunky indeed. But maybe it'll be spiffy in a while.

Agreed. I still don't understand why they made that move. They were one of a kind and facebook was never going to beat that with the music centralized and editable layout.
Back to ello. It's a stripped down, ad free and privacy protecting alternative to facebook. Still pretty empty there because I don't have friends besides Timbob. Who want to get the party starting on there? I can invite people too now

read another article about the investor. seemed ok.
I dunno.
Not trying to be naive, but maybe Ello will make money as a freemium site, and the investor will be happy.
we'll see.
Age old saying: if something is free, you're the product.
even if ello says you're not the product, you are still the product.
as long as you embrace that fact, things will be ok and you'll lead a normal life.
