If you could ask Mike and Marcus one question in person...

And have a guarantee that they would answer, what would it be?

In my case, it would be "Can we count on seeing the five pre-Twoism albums have even a limited release in the future?"

Both because Boards have been one of my favorite bands for quite a while now, and because I have a minor obsession with lost media. For reference, I spent months searching far and wide for the videos of a particular user on YouTube since they were all pretty much impossible to find (except for a specific few) prior to about a week ago. That's kind of how it is with Acid Memories, Play By Numbers, etc. only the available bits are much more sparse.

My question would be: what was the deal with the blinking eye/character string that was posted on your website years ago? What did it mean and why did it appear?

"Can I join your band?"

Seriously though, I'd probably ask some kind of geeky technical question about one of the many sounds that mystifies me on their records.

"Would you like to chill out and have a few beers with us around a campfire in Dorset or Inverie?"

I got this bag of grade A weed I need to get rid off. Want to help me out? I've brought instruments.

Actually, given my track record of what happens when I meet my favourite musicians, I'd probably just come out with a load of nervous gibberish.
Examples include:

Mark Oliver Everett - "You're a fucking inspirational human being!"

Mark Lanegan - "Mark, I used to come to this library when I was a teenager and get out horror books so I could jack off over the sex scenes"

Erica M Anderson - "Erica M Anderson, I am having a BABY!"

Ginger Wildheart - "Have you seen Twin Peaks? All of it? Even the last episode? Was it the most disturbing thing you've ever seen?"

*sigh*

Ok, that's the second Lanegan anecdote you've told me about now. Is an injunction involved?!? If not, why not?

Honestly thought I'd be the only that knew who Ginger was on this forum mind..

From the references in their music I get the feeling they'd have a lot of interesting stuff to say on all sorts of things... politics, the environment, all that stuff. I'd like to think I'd ask them something about the state of humanity and where we're going, because I don't see how you can involve yourself for so long with those subjects without forming an opinion on it. But I'd probably not be able to resist asking a question about their process, yeah.

The first one was before the gig. The second one was after. Sadly there isn't a third.

I know very well who Ginger is. I have seen the Wildhearts live 7 times I think. And Ginger solo a couple of times. I have even supported The Wildhearts with a band I was in when they played in Preston around 2003/4. Amazing songwriter, and a funny and intelligent bloke.

Yes, and he had seen the last episode. He said it wasn't the most disturbing thing he'd ever seen though. That was the last 30 minutes of Requiem For A Dream. Which I hadn't seen at the time, so I checked it out. And yes, it was grim indeed.

And a fellow Geordie too. Trying to think of name of the band he started after he split The Wildhearts back in the mid-90s. Saw them once.

Is it true that you could kill Moby and Lilly Allen simply by staring at them like a ninja owl (of Minerva)?

My second would be, if yes, what's keeping you?

Go play with an Akai S1000/S2000 for a few months on end and I think you might find that the weapon isn't so secret...

Oh you are right to an extent I would agree. A lot of the 'secret weapon' seems to be legitimate non-computer hardware with a lot of time put in to it. I was thinking more about the subtleties i.e the manipulation of almost inaudible ultra-high frequency sounds to evoke emotion etc that only comes when one has devoted their life to sound waves. I would ask them so much about some of the stereo magic tricks they have picked up over the years.

I'd ask them about their top favorite, off-the-beaten-track places in Scotland to vist.

I don't make music so technical/geeky questions won't be forthcoming.
