i don't know if anyone digs this stuff on this forum, but i thought id put one in here for Sun Ra. so awesome!



if you ever get the chance and have the time, watch the movie Sun Ra: Space is the Place. its a trip!

Sun Ra has been my master for a while now. He has the essence of music pretty much solid. I wish I was as talented.

I'm sure there are plenty of sun ra threads but they can't be found because of the minimum character limit in the search feature.

Sun Ra is my next sonic mission in life.

I'm 40 years old now, and though genres have overlapped here and there, you can say I did 10 years with hip-hop and Pink Floyd/Hendrix/Led Zep/VU, 10 years with metal, punk, indie, post-rock and singer songerwriter stuff like Neil Young and Dylan and 10 years with electronic music.

For the last year or so I've been looking for inspiration and something entirely new to discover. I've tried bits of classical music, though some is okay it doesn't really scratch the itch. I can't say I punch the air with delight when I think of classical music, I find it a bit moody and slightly depressing, or the flipside completely pompus and overblown.

And though I've never really liked much jazz either I find Sun Ra very interesting, his strain of jazz really vibes with me, though I've heard very little. So far I'm into Lanquidity, Jazz in Silhouette and On Jupiter. I'm a bit of a novice but just glad I've found a new path to travel down.

Sorry if that all sounds a bit whimsical, just I got the rest of the week off work and it's a glorious sunny morning
