I couldn't help but notice that Warp10 Track 03 sounds nothing like The Colour of the Fire, which is the title it's given. ATP-11 also sounds unlike anything I hear in A is to B as B is to C.

Does anyone know why they were named like that?

(Furthermore, shouldn't ATP-03 be named Flute Frum Thing?)

I'm not too sure why Warp10 track 3 is named "The Color of the Fire", but I think that ATP 11 is reused faintly in A is to B as B is to C, while the flutes in ATP 3 are also reused, albeit heavily modified by the brother's shenanigans.

Yeah, funnily enough I was just about to post a thread pretty much identical to this one. Warp10-03 is actually closer to an early A Moment of Clarity than The Color of the Fire. The flutes in A is to B as B is to C actually saw their earliest known use in Sixtyniner before briefly being used in the Telecom Italia song (Flute Frum Thing/ATP-03) before evolving into the second vignette of A is to B...

Nevertheless, it should still be referred to as Flute Frum Thing rather than A is to B as B is to C.

Hmm... I was going to write a reply very against ATP 11 being called A is to B as B is to C, but now I find it confusing me completely.

The most obvious resemblance between ABBC and ATP 11 is the opening melody of ABBC. At first, I didn't find that any more similar to ATP 11 than (as Jango pointed out) A Moment of Clarity is to Warp10 03.

ATP 11's melody doesn't ascend in the way ABBC's does - it's much more free, as it touches many different notes other than the ones that are being repeated. But that said, I do think it's probably an early take. The way it fades in, the timbre, the rhythm - it's all very similar, and I believe it's in the same key.

However, ATP 11 still doesn't seem similar enough to me to warrant this title. It seems too obscured to be called an 'early version' of ABBC (after all, this is merely the opening melody), or even an 'extract'... What do you guys think?


As for ATP 03, there's no doubt it's closer to the original Flute Frum Thing than what we hear in ABBC, so I still believe it should be called 'Flute Frum Thing'

That's really interesting... In the coming days I'll take a closer look.

I also came to notice ATP6 is one of the web loops... (It's a shame there's no sort of system for identifying particular web loops).
