I've only heard the single once and am not sure about it. Album sounds like it could be interesting though, given the influences (BoC, Krautrock, Kendrick Lamar) and people involved (James Murphy)

Actually it's one track called Somewhere that is supposedly influenced by Alpha and Omega. The rest of the album seems to be influenced by all sorts of artists.

Cool, I grew up listening to Bowie a lot. Good to hear he is listening to the right music these days. I HAVE to tell this to my mother, who is a big Bowie fan, and the reason I listened to him growing up.

Im a Bowie fan and Alpha and Omega is one of my favourite BoC tracks so Im really looking forward to this also just to answer what he got out of A&O.

The new song is shit, though. Bowie should probably just stick to being Bowie.

I think the song is neat, it reminds me of where Scott Walker has gone in his recent work.

I think the name dropping is kinda shitty though. It feels like he's just trying to get people to look at his song by saying "I was influenced by this"

shut up and let the song speak for itself, as an artist Bowie should know that's the best way.

yes, tho taking in mind how much experimental and abstract boc music can be, you can pick up the influence anywhere, alpha and omega always had a darker edge to me

Um, I think you misunderstood ScienceGuy. The Alpha and Omega influence is not found anywhere in the video's song "Blackstar". It's going to be found in a completely different track on the album. This other track is literally called "Somewhere". We have not heard "Somewhere", as it has not yet been released to the public.

Blackstar is so spooky and primordial. I've fallen in love with it.

I guess by making reference to it by name and then not releasing it he's been influenced by the early BoC albums...

Jesus this album (on first play) seems like an absolute classic! Not sure about the Boards influence, but it's cool to see them and Bowie mentioned in the same paragraphs.

Only track I don't like (on first play) was Pity She Was a Whore. Otherwise it's all killer and no filler. Very nice indeed
