For those outside the UK. Steve 'Interesting' Davis is a former snooker world champion and tv commentator.

Ha this pretty much confirms he's a top geezer. My friend Jon told me he regularly bumps into him at gigs in London, and not established dinosaur rock bands like you'd expect, we're talking obscure local psych and noise band affairs. I was as shocked as you are, I had to ask if we were talking about the same Steve Davis. Apparently Jon asked him if he was there for the beer or the music, he replied: "Both, but mainly the music!". Great to see he is also into Boards (and Oneohtrix and Ian William Craig!), obviously there's more to his on-screen persona. Also Snooker is bloody great drillkicker, an acquired taste but if you like tactical skill-based sports, look no further. Saying that, it's also really, really good to snooze to. Nothing more relaxing.

I remember I was frequently watching him on Eurosport somewhere around '92 or something along with Stephen Hendry. He was also into Frank Zappa. Cool!

Snooker is fantastic. End of. Too slow for Americans of course.

Steve Davis is a regular contributor to Prog Magazine.
HIs Column is titled " Steve Davis' Interesting Alternative" and he reviews all sorts of out there albums from the 60's up to the present day. prog rock and electronic being his faves especially Krautrock and bands like Magma.
He also has a radio show for anyone interested.
