I'm sure there's very few to none of us out there (myself included as not a part of this group) but if so, would love to hear it!
I hope this doesn't turn into a troll thread, but -

Well I'm still not 100% sure they weren't hiding inside that trailer at the Lake Dolores water park so...

Did anyone here go to the Warp Lighthouse Party? (2000: afx, boc, autechre, plaid headlined)
Would maybe sell my soul to hop in a time machine and go see that.

I do know a (very) casual music fan who turned up to the Lighthouse gig (she went with a boyfriend) and watched BOC (or so the story goes lol)
She's probably one of those people you here having a chat in the background of the legendary Untilted track. Really fucking irks me to be quite honest as I might go to my grave never watching them.

I miraculously got tickets to this and flew 11 hours to go see it! It was amazing. The venue ran out of beer really quickly though which was a bit of a downer but it was amazing to see so many artists from Warp, Skam, and Schematic all under the same roof(s).
The BoC set was fucking amazing. The visuals were so so good. Everything You Do is a Balloon was accompanied by a big close up video of a rising sun. So perfect. I have seen stills of some of the other vids that they had floating around. There were some figures like you'd see on the door of a bathroom that were set against very stark looking leafless trees. Cold and spooky. Very crowded too as one might expect. I feel like I could have lifted my feet off the floor and not fallen over.
By the end of that night, the music had descended into utter and complete audio terror. It was a bit much for me at that point. Then had to wait a long while for that tube station way the fuck out in the Docklands to open.

thats awesome^
Did BoC walk around before or after the show to talk to fans, or did they just come from back stage and exit back stage?
Also, did they bop their heads at all to the music or were they very much in the zone?
which set of all the lighthouse ones summoned a crowd (maybe an oxymoron from your description of how packed it was, and being all out of beer but)

It'd be interesting to hear jbible and terekhova's accounts of the ATP set, I wonder what they're up to these days?

My Modern Ireland professor claims that he's seen one of their performances. He brought it up when he noticed I was wearing a BOC shirt one day, asked me about them, and then said "They're brothers, right? I've actually seen them before". He didn't seem overly obsessed with them or anything (since he needed a little reminding) so I'm assuming he saw them at the ATP, lighthouse, or warp 10 sets and was there more for the other bands. He also spent a lot of time in Scotland in the 90's when he started out teaching, so it's always possible he saw them at one of their lesser known performances...

I wonder if they play low-key gigs for friends and family in that bunker of theirs? That's rather irksome too.
I'd sell my soul for such an invitation....

There's a few known live performances that no audio recordings have emerged from, maybe he saw one of those?

It's the accounts of those who went to these shows that provide like a third of the incentive to believe they're actual human beings that exist at this point.

I would go as far as to say I've looked one of 'em in the eye. I was quite near the front.

I was at Phoenix Festival 1997 for Bowie & Orbital. Sadly I had at that point no idea who BoC were, and so never saw their performance. Gutted yes, but hindsight is a wonderful thing, so not as much as not seeing Johnny Cash at Glasto 94 in favour of James...

I can understand seeing James at Glastonbury, but like you say with hindsight you probably should of seen Cash. Such is life.
I also went to see Orbital around the same time as you, (though perhaps 96) they were a great band back then.

Hi, i was at the Lighthouse Party!
I didn't catch AFX but saw him at the back of stage when others were playing. I did see BoC and AE but spent most of my time in another warehouse called the Boiler Room. This featured lots of Skam artists and the like, i was very much into that back then.
Firstly AE, they were intense as you can imagine. Very loud and a constant barrage of beats and bass, my head felt like it was vibrating to all different parts of the music. Thoroughly enjoyed those guys!
BoC were good but not like listening to them in your own time and space. I can't emphasise that enough! Lots of people packed that room and sometimes noisy with people talking. I found a nice place right near where they had the visuals set up and i remember this playing -
The sound was more electronic and less organic but to hear it that loud is a cool experience.
Also, the photo you see on Wiki
I can remember shuffling around this area and getting a similar view. Funny thing is the girl that took that photo, who i didn't know at the time of the gig but later became a friends via Soulseek and had a BoCish meet up in London. She is really good friends with the guys from Loess and was there at the gig with one half of Loess.
I still have my ticket somewhere too.
