I know they talked about it being one of their faster songs in the interview...but hot damn...that sounds great!

*EDIT* - okokok - just got to the part where the clicking (?) kicks in...

Wow. I like this way more than the normal version. And the normal version is pretty good.

Yeah. This track just went from an odds and ends anomaly to a heavy rotation favorite for me.

the regular version of xyz always sounded like a jumbled mess to me.

the 33rpm version of xyz sounds amazing to me.

The original of xyz was probably my least favourite BoC track as I agree with the above statement and it lacked depth for me.

This... This.

This is amazing.

Are we all sure that john peel didn't play it back at the wrong speed or something?

Not that I would ever accuse the late, great Mr. Ravenscroft of a mistake like that.

The original version is a bit "frantic" to me.. at 33rpm it's ridicolous, so much more details, everything sounds natural.. Anyway i think that john peel purposely played it at wrong speed

The Brothers actually said in the interview before XYZ plays that this is their "longest and fastest song" they've worked on in the last 2 years (at that point). I agree though, because it sounds so beautiful, it would be easy to actually think someone made a mistake - anyone else but Peel, and I'd almost put money on it!

Very good, I wasn't a huge fan of the fast version, but this is just right like someone said, it's like it was meant to be slower, crazy

Dunno why but I've always loved the original version. It's messy but it just sounds so good

But the slowed down version also sounds great

in the 33RPM version the resemblance to it's sample source, Edgar Froese's It Would Be Like Samoa, is much more clear. I wonder if maybe they recorded it as a slower track and then at the 11th hour thought to speed it up to avoid the sample being quite so obvious?

Wasn't the track never officially released because they couldn't get that sample cleared? Interesting theory, I'm really curious now if they actually sped it up for that reason.

thats a great theory.

ive always felt the 33rpm version is the original just based off how much better it sounds compared the original speed, and how much more you can pick up on in the track. like the voice saying, X Y ZZZZZZ

or also, what sounds like a woman screaming, you can hear it almost every 10 seconds toward the second half of the track.

You can't just slow down a track and call it '33rpm'. It's not a 12".

And it's definitely not the original version because they said it's the fastest thing they've done for a while.

Sounds fantastic though.

I mean, you technically could if you figured out the exact difference between the speeds/pitch of 33rpm and 45rpm and just applied it to the track, making it similar to what it would actually be like if it were a record. I'm sure the uploader didn't actually do that and just slowed it down to whatever they felt like, but meh who knows.
