Has anyone ever gotten any funny comments/remarks about BoC tracks from friends/family/whoever that don't usually listen to them?

Just the other day my sister heard 1969 and immediately burst out laughing because, as she said, the beat beginning at 0:12 "sounds like a barber cutting someone's hair with scissors." Kind of ruined that part for me a little but I couldn't deny it.

I also recommended BoC to a friend who responded with, "Are they the ones that did the Roygbiv song? My physics teacher played it non-stop in class last year and I got so sick of it." We had a laugh about that and he later told me he listened to MHtRtC and enjoyed it.

I've only got one friend I've really introduced to BoC - they have gone at it with an open mind, but tend to favor what I consider crowd pleasers like Amo Bishop Roden, Julie and Candy and Peacock Tail over some deeper and darker stuff.

I love music and usually have it playing in my room most of the day. One day a friend of mine came over, as usual I had music playing. I decided to suddenly change the song to The Color of The Fire. As the song played, they actually didn't say anything and I made sure not to make eye contact with them and acted like it was any old song. After it was about 2/3 into the song they finally burst out 'what is THIS?' He stared at me for like 20 seconds after that, It was hilarious. I asked him why he didn't say anything most of the song, he said he thought it was an intro to a song or album.

Another friend of mine was sending me links to songs he had been liking. After a while I told him to try this song. I sent him a link to the Everything You Do is A Balloon video. He didn't respond for a bit and I asked him how much of the video he watched. He just replied with "whole thing." Later he said he wanted to go watch cartoons after seeing it haha. Next time we saw each other irl he said "that video though!!" haha. He was really creeped out, and he is usually apathetic to most things.

I showed my sister some songs a few years back, she was like 14 and got really scared, like really. I think I showed her Dandelion, Energy Warning, A:B::B:C and YCFTS, by the time of this last song she covered her ears and left the room. It was nighttime btw.

Hahah! Yes indeed

The night shift at work have a good taste in music and listen to BBC 6music, when they scoot they leave the radio on (which is customized with a mini amplifier, sub woofer and tweeters so it pumps out a beastly sound). I'm usually the first one in at 5am, and leave it on, until Mr Smith arrives at 5.15am and promptly turns it over to The Arrow usually shouting at the top of his voice FUCK THIS FUCKING BLOODY MUSIC!!! BBC SIXHUNDRED AND SIXTY SIX!!! FUCKING DRUGGED UP CUNTS!!!! I'm not joking. See the thing is its Jim McVicars (from the night shift) system, and Jim is a very big, scary, rather aggressive Belfast bloke, so Mr Smith is quiet as a mouse if Jim is still about. Anyway one day Jim was running late and everyone was so busy no one had chance to turn it over after he left and ROYGBIV comes loudly oozing out of the speakers.....

No exaggeration, everyone simultaneously stops what they was doing, and almost everyone simultaneously said at the same time WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT!! followed by (which still makes me chuckle today) IT'S ROBOTS DOING SUPERMARKET SWEEP followed by something like NAH IT'S ROBOTS COMMITTING SUICIDE IN THE SUPERMARKET!!! It was pretty hilarious. Maybe but you had to be there but it was very funny.

When I first started listening to BoC around her my fiancé thought Aquarius was the soundtrack to a "space porno"

My aunt jokingly described campfire headphase as looking at a gorgious beach through a tiny tiny hole in a huge wall.

Never realized what that beat in beat dawn chorus was, until an ex asked if I was straight up playing ice cream truck music.

"Go punch your turntable, the record is skipping and it's annoying." lol

"turn this off! it's making me freak out!" - a buddy high on psychedelics when I put on A is to B as B is to C, towards the end of the song. Over the Horizon Radar then started and he fell asleep in the first 30 seconds. Hahaha.

"I love it!" - My friends adorable 4 year old daughter when I played Roygbiv for her.
