Is the remake of this out anywhere yet? Anyone seen it? just wondering if it's as awful as I think it's going to be. The original is a classic.

Yes, it is out in the States, and I believe this is an indication to the quality of the movie...

I just downloaded the director's cut from the original.[1973] Didn't see the remake and i don't think i ever will. The Wickerman is a real classic.

I know, I think i'll avoid it too. I've managed to avoid the remake of "Get Carter" (the original is one of my favourite films).

I really hope Micheal Bay doesn't slaughter Transformers. Everything he does is overblown boring nonsense. I mildly enjoyed The Rock, but then again I think I was 14 when I first watched it, which is about where you mentally have to be to enjoy one of his films...

The original Wickerman is just an amazing film.

When I was a kid back in the 70s I had a chance to watch it twice with my brother. I'd say the first time I had a chance to watch it on TV was when I was about 8. The second time about 10.

Both times my Mum was in the living room with us (no Dad, divorce) and both times my brother (one year younger than me) would always start laughing when Britt Eckland got her tits out. My Mum said 'Right, that's it, you two can go to bed!

Man I was so fucking annoyed with the little shit!

Anyway, the film was eventually seen when I was at a suitable age to appreciate its finer qualities.

Haven't seen the remake.

Don't bother with the remake, it reminded me of the remaking of Psycho [Hitchcock] by Gus Van Sant, unneeded!

Thanks for the advice. I'll avoid it. I'd hate to have it contaminate my feelings towards the original (which admittedly wasn't perfect but had enough redeeming qualities to carry it through. BTW, there's an AWFUL guitar solo towards the end of the film which nearly destroyed the film for me (perhaps that's going too far!). The guitarist must have been ordered to play with his cock until something useful appeared. It didn't).

There's just too much stuff being remade these days. The Psycho example you mention is a case in point. Total garbage. I honestly had to turn it off it was so awful. 'Total lack of imagination' was the criteria needed to make that pile of shit. An embarrasment to humanity.

The execs behind it probably figured people would be dumb enough to buy into its empty premise. The first viewer was probably a gorilla who walked out after the first ten minutes and told his buddies back in the zoo what a crock of shit he'd just seen. Word spreads fast and thankfully not too many people wasted their hard-earned cash on such a pile of vacuous drivel. Give me the original any day. A superb piece of cinema.

Anyway, I've said enough. Amen.
