Cold Earth extreme detail

"We'll go to great lengths to get hold of a specific instrument just to get a particular sound. For example, there's a sound in Cold Earth that is something like only one second of audio. It comes from an obscure old effect unit that cost us a lot of time and road miles to source, and it ended up being one second of audio on the record."

At 1:54 is a my guess and it's a Binson Echorec..

Doubt that it's a Binson Echorex, they are pretty easily available in UK, They would have had to drive a few hundred miles max to the Midlands to get one.

IIRC, they said it was in dead mint condition, whatever piece of gear they were referring to. And checking eBay, you can find them but @ a massive mark up. Anyone got a good guess?

I dunno but they could have made that noise with some basic plugins TBFH, it's hardly unusual or complex.

I seriously doubt they employ plugins, especially in interviews they stated that they used mainly all outboard analog gear so, I really don't think so.

They definitely didn't employ plugins, my point is they could have, it's hardly a tricky noise to achieve. Or maybe my monitors aren't expensive enough to understand why they had to go to such lengths to achieve such a noise.

They definitely didn't employ plugins, my point is they could have, it's hardly a tricky noise to achieve. Or maybe my monitors aren't expensive enough to understand why they had to go to such lengths to achieve such a noise.
