As much as I've loved their latest records (pendulu hv moda might be one of their all time highs), I can't help but hope that this record might be........... tuneful? Ha it's not going to happen.

I think it might be, I have a strong feeling after NTS and Elseq that they want to do a more streamlined album and the fact that this only scratches 1 hour in length makes me think that's what we are going to get. The logo on the front is from Onesix and the sounds on those recordings are incredible, so it think we might get a Onesix sound palate in a more traditional song structure.

Brother, I've been lurking. Twoism has always felt like home to me but when I started my career after school/had kids I kind of lost track of the boards I used to religiously visit. Hell, I used to be a moderator here!

Glad to see you're carrying on the torch. We're just unlucky bastards that fell in love with bands that never release records (SOTL & BOC)! Being an Autechre fan is much more rewarding even if the records are difficult. Here's to hoping for melodies on the new record.

Same here about Ae. The last decade I don't blindly order their new releases. I also hope on something more tuneful I still have hope

Guess their forthcoming music will remain as abstract, seemingly random, and freezing cold as the last 12 years. I much prefer their early work. More focus on sounding like actual music with rhythm, melody, and composition. The last decade it seems more about sound design wank. That might work great on a live concert with a proper sound system and a pitch black room, but at home I prefer my music more easy listening. Maybe I haven't tried enough yet, but the problem is I can't seem to stand listening to it for an extended period of time because it's so demanding.

Have you ever considered that maybe you're just getting old, Fredd-E?

I know what you mean, though. I've found a lot to like with Elseq and & NTS, but as I've grown older I've found myself looking less for a challenge and more for comfort/calm. And, 80% of my music listening happens at work, and it's pretty hard to work to Elseq.

Since Quaristice though, they have released a lot of great ambient stuff. Sure, it's embedded with their typical atonal/poly-rhythmic stuff, but tracks like Altibzz still get heavy rotation with me. I'd love Autechre to release their own SAW2.

I love the sound design and the experimentation, and respect the craft that goes into an AE release. But they desperately need an editor. Cos maybe it's not that everything in your 8 hour release is too special to cut, maybe none of it is special enough to stand out.

They're making concrete sculptures several hundred feet high that look great from the next town over. It's definitely art, and it's definitely impressive, but I wouldn't want it in my garden

That is way more exciting to me than an Autechre release. I tend to agree with Negamuse on this one.

Been doing good. Life has changed a lot for me, but I still listen to these records I found in college (largely with the help of the good people on this board - especially you Aesthetics. I miss the pre-streaming days in some ways.

Hell yes! Pre-ordered both the DLP and the SIGN shirt. I hope WARP won't fuck the vinyl pressing as they usually do - I know they have the best customer service in the world to make up for it but still.

Very curious about this 1, but as others have said, I prefer their older stuff.

I actually like their newer hyper atonal, non rhythmic, hellish stuff. Its like the bastard love child of Stravinsky and Mosolov, born screaming through Max MSP.

Actually, maybe ‘like’ is the wrong word. Endure. Tolerate. Accept.
