I've always been puzzled by Magic Window...

So is the sole purpose of the track to stretch the album length to Sixty-Six Minutes and Six seconds? Maybe to be a literal breath after the journey that is Geogaddi? My confusion is that BoC is so deliberate it seems like a shallow reason to just extend the album with silence just silence.

I've noticed that it's become somewhat of a joke to reference Magic Window, and I honestly have never known any BoC fans to talk about it with.

What are your thoughts on this silent track?

To be honest, I never noticed it as an actual track. From a biblical perspective 666 has been made extremely clear from BoC, both helpful and frustrating at the same time. Sort of feels like a huge prank on earth to be honest. Funny thing is most churches do not speak the truth on the subject and if you actually speak the truth people often do not listen or they get very offended.

Well on the 3x LP it doesn't even have a groove, it's just the pic of the family. So it's like BoC acknowledges that it isn't a track more like a conceptual, physical pause back to reality. On the Digital and CD releases this is conveyed by silence as a track, because you can represent it physically on wax, but not on a digital platform. It's also seemingly a reference to "Magic Window Frequencies" which are some sort of metaphysical frequencies that change the energies of their surroundings.

Very interesting stuff for a minute and a half of silence.

Very interesting stuff for 70 some seconds of silence.
I think I read somewhere this idea came from warp, so essentially BoC had nothing to do with it.

Hahahaha I can imagine warp being like, "Hey guys, wouldn't it be hilarious to end the album with complete silence and confuse the shit out of people?" and BoC being like "Uhhh, sure?" :|

Weird topic for sure. Personally, I sort of ignore that whole side of BoC, and just listen to the music.

Not a fan of the meaning, just find the meaning in the music? I respect that for sure.

I mean't the artists intention behind the music, you just like the music itself. No totally serious. Respect.

It's silence though, what else do you talk about besides the meaning? Someone somewhere must have thought, let me add this silence here to get people thinking and researching. When geogaddi came out, we drove to the record store and most people I know were focused more on the huge poster that was included. This was pre internet in your face, there was no twoism. Different times. Regret not getting the tape and hope someday they rerelease the albums on cassette.

Yeah I understand, you just said you didn't really care about that kinda stuff and that's totally cool, haha. I didn't get Geogaddi on vinyl till like 2007, and I didn't even really get it until a friend put it on in the woods while we were trippin' in college.

Geogaddi is a pretty spiritual album to me. I think it is no coincidence that after the rather difficult trip it ends with the very peaceful and tranquil Corsair, like reaching the light at the end of a long and dark tunnel. Afterwards there is Magic Window, in which there is an opportunity for reflection in total silence. And at the very end there is From One Source All Things Depend, which is like a profound realization/epiphany after the dark and difficult trip of the whole. Perfect ending to an incredible conceptual album.

That is my take on it anyway. As always, I guess it is different for everyone.

Regarding the name of the track, I guess there is certainly something magical about silence if you really think about it. A window into the unknown, ever mysterious and eternally present. A very powerful way to end the album!

They wanted to add some silence, but were unsure about the duration, and then the Warp owner came up with the 666 thing.

It could also be a reference to John Cages 4’33’’, a piece composed of complete silence for 4 minutes and 33 seconds. The audience’s murmurs, coughs, and shuffling become the work. Similar to Antonio Artauds theories in The Theatre And It’s Double. A theatre of chaos, where the audience surrounds the whole stage, seeing both the play and the going on’s behind.

That kinda sums it up then, it is a big joke. Which makes total sense.
And here I am being like "WHAT'S UP WITH MAGIC WINDOW???"

4'33'' is kind of... not a joke exactly in itself, but the number is meaningful. 4m33 of silence is 273 seconds, and -273C is absolute zero. You know, like the notes coming from the performers! But like you say, there's the noise of the audience and the sound of score sheets being turned over (yes, 4'33'' has a score), and it's very much about how even in the emptiest void life still exists, can't stop existing actually. There's never a completely silent performance of 4'33'', there can't be, and that's by design.
