Nothing is Real pink floyd sample?

I was listening to TH the other day and realized that the violin sounding sample they used sounded like it was actually David Gilmours slide guitar from live at pompeii, and sure enough, I think I found it.

0:40
It only happens for a second, but I swear to god they are the same. The little vibrato thing that dave gilmour does is the exact same as whats in the Boc track, thus getting rid of the argument that its a violin sample.
Am I crazy or are these the same?

Hmmmm. Not really hearing it myself. What do others think?

I definitely hear it, sounds like it was sped up and maybe pitched up, but I definitely hear the similarity.

I think it is also is spliced, as you can hear the sample cut right after the little vibrato dave gilmour does. It has to be from live at pompeii, if not then I wonder how they would get that close

I don't hear it, but that clip reminded me how incredibly awesome Live at Pompeii is.

It definitely could be but it also could be made a million other ways too. You have to question which is more likely and to be honest, with BoC it's 50/50, would they take the easy route to get that sound? and if so, what is even the easy way when it's such a minute element of the track.
I feel that they have used less and less samples as the album progress and gotten more and more into synthesis but I could be totally wrong. TH could be riddled with samples but they are so buried in effects that they just seem originally synthesised. Things are definitely deeper buried.

Excellent point. However I think the timbre of the sample is too close to be replicated (but thats just to my ears). I might make a comparison video, just to illustrate the similarity, as some people i've sent it to don't really hear it.

It is the same timbre albeit buried and cut up and I wouldn't put it past them using something significant for something so insignificant in the grand scheme of things, that's why we wait 7 years for an album, and albums that are not even full of fully fledged, typical tracks.
But, also, it could be made any number of ways and just coincidently sounds just like it. Which it does, so regardless, it's a good find and you have a good ear.

This.
It just sounds like a slightly bit crunched string to me. I am sure it came from somewhere significant to them, but I think the odds of it being anything else are just as good or greater than the odds of it being specifically 2 seconds of David Gilmour's guitar from Live at Pompeii.

It does sound similar but I don't think it's a sample. Timbres sound more similar at higher frequencies anyway, but the TH sound definitely sounds more like a filtered violin sample or a synth string or something. It's still a good find though, it might even be a thing they're deliberately referencing.

I can hear it. But not sure if this is intentional.

This.
Seems non-specific enough that it could have been created with a synth and fx, but equally, I wouldn't be surprised if they did sample Gilmour's guitar.

Considering how long it takes them to release an album, I'd side on the idea that they took the sample and recreated it themselves. Saves them having to pay any royalties too.
