Justify Magic Window

Okay so, I have this friend who is really obsessed with birds and,., well that part isn't terribly important.
But we have debated time and time again about Magic Window, they say it's a bad song and I say it isn't even a song. they say it's redundant and pointless. I've made many claims trying justify magic windows existence, I have some points up my sleeve but rather than list them here I want to know what your thoughts are, see if I'm on the right track.
So.... Justify Magic Window, please.

[Nick Potter] submitted the following observation: in the novel, "fnord" is a word that people in general have been trained not to see - instead, it merely induces a vague feeling of anxiety in the reader. The music70 listing may therefore have a slightly deeper meaning than being a simple reference to the novel; it may be a jokey suggestion that the track is indeed present, but that we have simply been programmed not to hear it.
All the justification the track needs IMO.

Oh my, I mentioned this to my friend at one point but I totally forget the "it may be a jokey suggestion that the track is indeed present, but that we have simply been programmed not to hear it." part, that does complete the picture and make a whole lot of sense.

I can’t find the source at the moment, but I read somewhere that warp guys, when Geogaddi was about to be released, suggested Boards of Canada to put another track to get a record that lengths 66 minutes and 6 seconds. And, as Corsair is a beautiful track, they wanted to close the album with silence, rather than another vignette - I’ll look for the source -

Marcus: For example, the decision to make the record 66.6 minutes long was made right at the last minute. We wanted to insert some silence at the end of the album so that there would be a gap before the CD would start again. When we were discussing the length of the silence [Warp Records owner] Steve Beckett actually suggested to take it to a total 66 minutes 6 seconds, because then everyone would think it's the devil who made the album. And we just laughed.

I’ve said it before, but I always thought it was a “magic window” to your surroundings, as in the sounds in the real world around you are the song. It always seemed like a fitting end to the album to me.

+1 on this the etching on side F of the vinyl is beautiful, i always wanted to try playing mine to see if there anything inside the nuclear family but its not worth ruining the picture or the needle on my player

I played it. Nothing happens.
The fact that there's nothing on the vinyl also debunks the theory that there is actually anything going on in the file of the song itself. It's just silence. Whether it's to let us take in our outside surroundings, allow us some breathing room after the last song, or raise the devil, it's certainly nothing more than those three scenarios.

about magic window.... i think its kind of creepy to just leave the listener with silence at the end, it creates some weird anxiety in me and probably in others. just waiting for something, anything. thats how it was on my first listen, it's an eerie way to end the album.
