Staircase Whip vocal sample

I thought "Foreign Affair" by The Manhattan Transfer (sampled in A Moment Of Clarity) sounded a bit suspicious so I decided to chop it up a bit and while it might not be the exact same sample it sounds VERY close.

I sampled the first and last parts of the song.

Am I onto something here?

Sweet I didn't know about the Manhattan Transfer sample for Clarity (looks like Sixtyniner found it?) Yeah man you're on to something there.

It's obviously not the same sample though, sounds way too pitched up and lacks the "eeh eeh eeh" sounds.
Could it be a different recording of the same melody?

Very similar indeed! Tbh, I'm not able to tell that they are not the same sample as you assure. Perhaps that "eeh eeh" part you're looking for is somewhere else on the song/album?
Btw, that "Foreign Affair" track gave me chills, very beautiful. Kind of reminded me of Disclosure's "Moonlight" and its sample.

I have looked through the track for the "eh" sound, but there is also a lead vocal that might be sampled from something else. Something makes me think it's the same sample as Aquarius 3. Timber wise.

Judge for yourself. This was suggested by a guy in the comments of the track 5 months ago. I think I forgot to post or check if this was known when I heard it.

Sounds like a good match too. And it's interesting because The Mysterious Voices of Bulgaria was mentioned by Marcus in the Breaking Into Heaven article.
Driving around the outskirts of Edinburgh, drying off in (the) warmth of his plush, silver BMW, Eoin ejects a Stevie Wonder CD out from the car stereo and rummages through his rucksack. ‘You have to hear this. It’s the Mysterious Voices Of Bulgaria – 30 women in traditional dress singing these unbelievable harmonies! It’s the kind of music that is totally divorced from normal music, bit I love it. It resets my clock.’
Guessing the youtube commenter guy knew this and then heard the similarity? Would be more convincing if he didn't know about the Bulgarian reference and just happened upon it.

I think you are on to something here. The second I started playing this song it reminded me of Staircase Whip. Sounds like they just took this track and cut it up to the beat.

Oh man, I've got to get better at this sample spotting thing. Some people are on a whole other level!
