Mushrooms

Hi Guys and Gals,
I've recently started growing mushrooms at home. I've started off very basic with some blue and pink oysters and lions mane. The oysters, i'm bulking out the spawn on straw and cardboard. 10% grain spawn (which I bought online) to 90% dried card/straw mix. But once I have my first flush of mushrooms I am hoping to capture my own spore prints, make syringes and start the whole process again. I've no idea why, but it is a great hobby to involve yourself in, especially if you have mental health issues. Just wondered if there are any other BoC fan mycologists out there?
Anyway I was watching a few mushroom videos on youtube and this one has one of the greatest outros ever!

Yes! I KNEW your username was from a mushroom fan.
I'm currently waiting on a syringe so I can grow my own for therapeutic use, Golden Teacher, if I remember correctly.
I'm so new to it that I'm bound to mess up, but man, if I can get just enough to satisfy my needs, I'll be happy.
I would also like to grow some of the other strains/species/whatever.
Have you watched Fantastic Fungi? That is what opened my mind to them in a way I never considered.
Thanks for posting this.

I have. It's was very interesting and beautifully filmed. You should try for some blue oysters. Although not therapeutic in compounds, they are good for you. I made my boxes 2 weeks ago now. So day day now I'll hopefully start to see pins. I'm even tempted to start this up as a business once I get a little more educated.

Mushrooms are so cool! They're like real life magic items. You've got some that make gourmet dishes, some are medicinal, some can radically change your perception, some glow in the dark, others can be used to start fires... On and on. I'm certified to gather/sell wild mushrooms in my state. I love going out, hiking, foraging, and eating what I pick. Favorites would have to be chanterelles, morels, and chicken of the woods.

Do you need to be certified to gather them or just to sell? Morels look really odd looking mushrooms, I've not tried them, but there are a few folk growing them these days. I'm slowly going to build up some equipment so I can eventually clone mushrooms on agar and then make liquid cultures. It seems liquid is the way to go if you want quick colonisation of grain. I've bought a pressure cooker for sterilising jars, but man! those things are great for cooking. Saves loads of time.

Just to sell. Where I live anyone can gather mushrooms in state parks for personal use. With my certification there are a few types of edible mushrooms I could sell at, say, a farmer's market, or to a restaurant.
As far as growing myself I've cultivated Lion's Mane using a kit, that was fun. I do also have a pressure cooker from a failed attempt to grow shrooms in jars years ago using the PF Tek method which is just used for regular cooking these days. Hoping to get a Shiitake log started some day.

Lion's Mane! Wow!
Morels are super popular where I'm from.
I remember the last time I took psychedelic mushrooms. It was a truly bad trip and it took me almost 15 years to finally understand, thanks to that damned movie (GREAT fucking movie, don't get me wrong!), that it was the trip I needed, not the one I wanted. Now I get how important it was.
Anyway, I go on too much.
I'm excited to learn more, that's for sure. It's a lot of info and it's sometimes difficult to find information without feeling like a newbie in the cool kids club.
I'm hoping more personal research will change that for me.

Microdosing anyone? What's it like? What's it do for you? Any tips on where to start?
