We’re pleased to announce the introduction of a new user group on the forum called: Drones.

This group is made up of dedicated members who contribute to preserving and expanding the collective knowledge around Boards of Canada. Their tasks may include maintaining bocpages, supporting the wiki, verifying information, and assisting with archival efforts. Their work is often behind the scenes but remains essential to the depth and accuracy of our shared resources.

The first Drone Pilot, who else could it be, is Fredd-E, the founder and driving force behind bocpages. With years of dedication and deep knowledge of BoC history and lore, there could hardly be a better candidate. Fredd-E will serve as the group leader, overseeing the Drones and appointing new members to the group as needed.

To fully focus on this new role, Fredd-E will step back from his general moderator duties. From now on, forum members should reach out to the moderation team for any issues requiring a moderator's attention. The moderator team will soon be expanded to ensure continued support and coverage.

We’re excited about this new structure and confident that the Drone group under Fredd-E’s leadership will help preserve and enrich the informational backbone of the community.


As a small note of completeness: you'll notice a new group called Hexagon Sun. This has no effect on mdg's existing role or function, it simply replaces the moderator tag with something more fitting now that the Drones group exists.

I personally think that oliveoil22 & niski should be part of this new group, since they’ve shared valuable information about BoC, particularly on the music70 tapes, the discovery of synths and samples used in their work, the NR used on the rips, the timepoint when R35TT was made, etc.

How would one apply to join the group?

Whatever you need in the node space.

I stand on guard.

I'll be happy to lend a hand if I'm needed as one of the Drones.

The incredible thing that bocpages is today is almost entirely the work of Fredd-E himself. However, it was DavidAC that founded the BoC wiki initially.
And yes, I'm showing off for the job.

We’re most in need of regular editors on the wiki. Passionate people who enjoy writing new articles, improving existing ones and reviewing new edits. We have a small group for this (as part of the bocpages Discord server), and if this sounds like you and you’d like to join, please send me a DM.
