It always has such a slanted approach to rhythm and melody that makes it sound like nothing else. The music is always so tight, every note so perfectly planned and yet it feels spacious like there's whole worlds within each track. Someone said it feels like something is missing from the tracks but somehow the minimalism creates this unique corridor that nobody else did at the time.

All I know is, that this album is rightfully one of the best ever made. It's apparently a compilation of their best songs at the time, but yet, it also feels complete and perfect.

It was also a springboard for many people to start looking towards the past for inspiration in the present. Setting old timey PSA soundtracks from the 70s to odd beats? Really awesome idea that not many thought of at the time.

Sorry, I babbled enough. All I know is that when they are finally ready to share what's next, I know it's gonna be something really satisfying and well worth the wait.

And yes given three decades of really great music, I think it's safe to say whatever's next will be grand!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this life-changing masterpiece. The album is executed in such a precise way that it is easy to disassociate any human involvement with the composition of it. The album has been my favorite since I first heard it playing on my friend's CD player back in maybe 2005 ish(?) It really changed the way I listen to music and what I look for in composition.

I had never heard anything like it before. The first thing that came to my mind was my childhood, riding in the car at dusk staring at the electrical towers along the freeway as they went by. How could music conjure up those faded memories?

Before BoC came into my life, I had recently become a huge fan of the Anticon Collective, specifically Odd Nosdam and cLOUDDEAD. Their music had a similar feel of nostalgia, but I didn't quite realize the rabbit hole I was headed down until I heard MHTRC.

I totally feel this, been listening to it since 2018 (even when my music taste was basically all hard rock/punk), and it's still one of the greatest albums I've ever listened to, got me more into electronic music as a whole, I listened to Geogaddi not too long afterwards too, didn't hit AS hard but still pretty mindblowing to 15 year old me.
