The Protection of Happiness Generator

Just to make this a little more visible and since quite a few people have been very excited for this Mike-writing-cred BoC-produced Sexual Objects song that's dropping next week:

The wav files of the album have been made available to Patreon members by the label almost a month ago, and unless they themselves are trolling, the song is simply the BoC remix of Sometimes, renamed.

Just listened to it and yes, its just the Sometimes remix. Maybe its a placeholder because they want to keep it secret until it releases?

How would paying Patreon supporters feel if it turned out that the album they purchased suddenly contained a different song at the end? What we see is probably what we get.

Why rename something related to a band a lot of people are awaiting new material for?

I just screamed “holy shit” on the bus. A Scyye post and a Cupz reply has truly made my day.

This is so unreal, I just punched a toddler in the face out of excitement, when he wouldn't stop crying I told him Santa Clause was just a construct of his own imagination. I was that baffled.

Never would have thought we would get a Cupz comeback before a BoC comeback.

Same, sadly. I'd have made 3 LPs by now, and that'd include silly kubrikian hi-hat meditation time. I hope they aight.

It's out on streaming and yes it is the Sometimes Remix. Sorry to disappoint those who were doubting this still. Guess it's nice to have it on streaming after 8 years.

Would it really have been too much trouble to sneeze some beats and flutes over a sexual objects track to warrant a new title?

So disappointing - us getting our hopes up on new material. This is a situation where MDG letting everyone know months ago to not get excited would have been helpful.

Still can't believe this could happen right to BOC fans...

It's just an illusion... in all this confusion... :}

It could just be they had to rename it because it's a Mike Sandison remix and not technically a Boards of Canada remix.

Why would they release new material on someone else’s album, it would completely overshadow it.
I wasn’t expecting anything new, and am more excited that this clears the way for an actual BOC release.

First music in 12 years.
There will be some sort of “fanfare”
Or announcement

Not a track on the tail end of a band that has a very small following
No disrespect to SO

Give it a bit longer

Thank you for writing this post because I agree with it completely. We all know when they return things will truly be grand and even if the Happiness Projector track wasn't a new song, wouldn't you want a new song or album instead from BOC? I know I would.

Even as a completionist who was hoping for something new, I am happy to get Feels With Me on vinyl and a tribute to Mike Sandison's work with SoB's, who are a great band and worthy of notoriety with or without boc.
