If you haven't heard my music before (probably most of you) it's basically IDM/Ambient/Downtempo elements with my vocals mixed in (usually sounds, rather than lyrics), and arrangements that can shift & change in character a lot within a given track. I had a track 'Swallow Illusions Whole' on the OOT Volume 6 community comp waaaaay back which some of you may have heard.

I don't know how I missed this one but I've gotta say - this is fascinating stuff. Your use of vocals is so unique but beautiful sounding. Almost like a totally unique instrument

Thank you! Regarding the vocal, I guess it's like having my own unique monosynth that nobody else possesses. Easy to make the work recognisable that way. I try not to overuse it or mix it too high; there's a careful balance that's always considered.

Been keen to hear an album from you ever since we did OoT 6. Will absolutely be giving this a listen.

Really enjoying this, very impressive. The use of your vocal sound is very haunting and moving, sounding vast and deep. I’ve been listening to this album while out in nature taking photos (along with various Warren Burt albums and Autechre live sets). Regarding your percussive patterns, which The Wonky Angle described as ‘drunk’ at one point, I tend to think more of the movement planetary orbits and collisions, as opposed to the more intricate machine vibe of a lot of IDM. Really quite unique although I wonder if something like Astrobotnia is an influence? How do you think about your approach to percussion?

I was just thinking the other day how I've basically not listened to any of Aleksi Perälä's work (he's Astrobotnia iirc?). I should rectify that one day soon, though I really don't know where to start!

With rhythms I tend toward lots of syncopations, swing beats, polyrhythms, etc. I have trouble doing just four-to-the-floor techno, though sometimes that's the best aesthetic choice available (and it happens two or three times on this record). I find the way Mark Clifford from Seefeel programs rhythms to be very inspiring, and sometimes mimicking his approach has been a great starting point for me. I also really love how BoC mix live percussion with programmed and have tried (and largely failed) to get something close to that a few times. Even in failure I usually end up with something at least worthwhile or useable though.
With percussion sounds I'm very picky, usually layering several sounds into one snare. Lots of clangy, metallic resonances on this record which largely came from a recording session with a steel thermos filled with different amounts of water to alter the pitch.
