As with many other artists, twoism was the reason I got into OPN, must have been around the time the Rifts compilation came out. I increasingly lost the connection to his music after Returnal. Replica was interesting, but I always found it difficult to fully enjoy. Same was true for the albums that followed. Everything after Garden of Delete I must admit I only listened to once or twice.

Those three tracks off his upcoming album however, holy shit, might be some of my favorite music he's ever made. Incredibly excited for more.

This seriously feels like his magnum opus, can't stop listening to it. Every BoC fan who's not into OPN yet should check this one out.

I'd definitely suggest revisiting that album. I instantly got Replica vibes when hearing these new tracks, more so than anything else in his discography.

Will do! Kinda started working my way backwards and found a couple tracks I really loved on Magic and Age of (can't stop listening to Same, holy shit what a track). GoD, R+7 and Replica will be next.

Nice! I'm pleased to hear you're liking some of these newer tracks. I think there are certainly both highs and lows on his past few albums, but they're all mostly enjoyable.

Garden of Delete was probably his last project that I truly adored and felt was super cohesive, although I do understand that it's not for everyone. Some people are turned off by the abrasive palette and maximalist production but I consider those to be some of its strong points.

I resisted Replica earlier this year and found it enjoyable. I was on Team Scyye in that it felt difficult when it initially came out. Not anymore, though.

Oh my the next single just dropped early for some reason. Blown away again. I don't think I'll be needing new BoC. This is everything.

The trax are sounding nice thus far, but I’m still gonna need that new BoC!

Lifeworld seems to be the belter of these first 4 pieces and I’m already losing interest. It has a lot going on, but I feel like it’s missing the sense of development that the R+7 hits had — without that feeling of going on a journey it starts to feel a bit 1-dimensional to me.

He is using a BoC-esque sound palette, so my hope is that having their turf trodden by a fellow Warpster may stir up a little friendly rivalry and help them get their new album off to mastering ;-p

Definitely not trying to jinx the BoC situation any more, still secretly very excited and ready to get back on the hype train as soon as something beyond Instagram likes and Youtube playlist updates happens.

Until then these new OPN tracks really are doing something for me to fill the void. At times almost remind me of Secede in their style of sound collage, while all emotionally rooted in OPN's earlier stuff, yet way more refined, like he's utilizing his skillset from the years of making movie scores, working on pop records etc., to go back to his proto-Vaporwave days and realize those early visions fully from a new perspective.

Yeah, I agree. I do find all the world building he's done rather beautiful, and I find it interesting to hear him explore the little universe he's dreamt up. Curious to hear the album in full.

I suspect I'll always be chasing the first high of R+7 when it comes to his music – I think it's safe to say that album changed my life. Funny that you give my music a shoutout because my first (and only) show as a decent man was opening for OPN back in 2012. Anyway thanks for the kind words, I feel grateful that you appreciate my tunes. Coincidentally, I put out a new album last week, perhaps I'll make a thread for that

in my impatience I downloaded a .flac leak of Tranquilizer (do'not worry, I preordered the vinyl).

give yourself the luxury of putting on good headphones and doing nothing else but listening to this album straight through.
does not feel hasty to say this is the in the top five albums I'have heard in the past decade at least.

(context: huge OPN fan who did not care all that much for Age Of, Magic Oneohtrix Point Never, or Again ... though Replica and Garden of Delete are two of my favorite albums of all time, plus his earlier ambient work is also massively important to me.) Tranquilizer, after just three listens, seems to me perhaps his best work.

Games doesn't get enough love. I remember loving That We Can Play and the other mini EP, then thinking the album that came after was only kind of mid. But listened to it again the other day and it was better than I remember.

The last few OPN albums I've listened to once and nodded my head to and gone "yes, I see", they're in that space for me. But this lead track I like, I like his stuff when he dials back the making-it-challenging-to-listen-to just a tad, you know?

Yeah this is the best OPN album in a long time, and I speak as an enjoyer of the recent albums.

At times it feels like FSOL if they'd taken the trajectory Autechre did after Lifeforms instead of disappearing up their own arse.

I'm enjoying it a lot, amazing editing without stopping it being listenable. It's like he's spent the last few albums sharpening his tools and now he's got mastery.
