quite a few people including biznasty have been banned for posting memes on the boc subreddit
i was permabanned for asking why even have a meme tag if memes aren’t allowed?
if mods want shitposting elsewhere, why won’t they make that clear?

Finally. Someone has said it. I got banned as well. So did my friend.
What I also can't understand for the life of me, is why I got permabanned and my posts removed for posting the same god damn memes which are now on that reddit, but in video form.... The mods literally just have a personal vendetta against us, they are probably salty I've listened to Hooper Bay and they haven't. What actual pathetic nerds.

They don’t even have a clear view on their own rules

Could you make a sub reddit yourself? I don't know how all that works but if they can, can't you?

Sadly not. The names taken and r/boc got banned for not having moderation? r/boards-of-canada seems stupid.... r/twoism? I don't know, I've just sent mods a message basically making them aware they've banned multiple people who have been OG since day one and they need to sort their act out. Best you can do really? Its a unique situation, I'm sure the brothers would be extremely unhappy with how its being ran. Being all up for digital freedom and freedom of speech. Its just odd and very strange, have they even listened to the music?

haha, LOL

I was thinking r/hellinterface would be nice but I don't know who runs it... I don't really use reddit other than to meme... its more about the new people who get into boards of canada and then get to deal with this prick. I actually blame him for people thinking the boards of canada fans are grumpy old weirdos...

I think it's better to stay here. The effort you need to go through here to post a pic or a meme for instance is like a technical hurdle one must navigate to prove one's worth

Reddit mods in general are horrible based on my experience. I've seen decent moderators elsewhere on the internet but on Reddit it always seems to be some bitter clowns looking for any excuse to dominate and exert power over others.
It kinda makes sense because who else would sacrifice their time to do such a job for free... the well-intentioned people who might and have some integrity, are more likely to choose a real forum and not a subreddit

Reddit really is such a cesspool, not just the mods but posters too. They’ll seriously downvote anything that evokes a negative feeling even if there’s a legitimate point being made
Example: You point out that BoC might not do any press anymore because they never wanted to but people were speculating too much or something
Redditor: NO! I want them to do interviews and social media updates! I came on Reddit to have fun, how dare you disturb my precious redditing by making me feel something negative! *downvotes comment to hell*
Or something like, your comment just includes a ”bad word” like Spotify
Redditor: NO! Spotify bad! No Spotify! *downvotes comment to hell*
What kind of overgrown babies are these people?

This is a good example of why adding 'likes' etc to posts on Twoism is perhaps not the greatest idea, on reflection.
For all it's faults, Twoism does still encourage reading and replying relatively thoughtfully. Reducing messages to popularity contests isn't personally what I'd want to see here. I can get my ego fix elsewhere.

I advocated for adding a reaction system a while back because it adds a layer of meaningful interaction that otherwise is absent. People often react but don't bother to respond
If you want to reduce it to mere likes or dislikes, just likes should work in my opinion. Should be a pretty simple implementation to make and if it backfires in unforeseeable ways it should be simple to remove
It doesn't censor or force positivity, it encourages people to actually explain what was done wrong. Again, talking about increasing meaningful interactivity, that's one of my pet peeves on Reddit. "Okay, you penalized my behavior and left it up to me to figure out why. Did you actually have meaningful critique or are you just being a cowardly internet wanker? I probably though I had something legitimate to say, hence me bothering to comment. So some clarification would be nice"

As an ancient "Something Awful/Facepunch" forum user. I can say from history with these types of features, adding ratings to posts is a really, really bad idea. Yes, it would make it similar to reddit. Also, a cult of personality would soon form just like those places. I prefer the ancient rule of forums in that if you have nothing to input, don't post! Just nod along with the post if you agree, no need to give it a gold star. People aren't stupid.
