So, I have been wondering since these were sold by Mike Paradinas;

He was allegedly friendly with Mike and Marcus, do we think he has asked them for permission to sell this? Surely he would have known chances were really fucking big the buyer would have made these available in proper quality?

Keep in mind that not all friendships last. Enough time has passed for these tapes (30+ years) that it would be surprising if either Mike or the brothers care enough about them finally finding their way into fans ears. Especially since these transfers are a night and day quality improvement over what had previously circulated.

His wife talked about this in 2013:

"oh get over yourselves, we've got a baby coming a mortgage to pay and what use are they sitting on a shelf? There's more than 10,000 records in this house I'm sure a couple aren't going to be missed."

I wonder how much sample licensing issues would get in the way of an official re-issue.

There were other cases (like Nine Inch Nails Broken DVD) where legal issues were stopping an official release, in that case Trent Reznor himself leaked it "anonymously" on The Pirate Bay.

If BoC wanted a high quality version to get out there without officially doing it themselves, it would look something like this.

It could be something they know can never be officially released (all those TV show samples etc), and I'm sure licensing that stuff is only getting more and more expensive, especially for a major act. (I know people here still stay BoC are niche sometimes, but they're one of the biggest acts on the biggest electronic music label in the world).

I don't think BOC would leak these then throw Mark under the bus while a fan paid for it all. You could argue that the fan paying for it is a ruse, but why put Mark in the middle of it?

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents out there about what these tapes actually are.
They came out in 1996, so after Twoism and all the early releases. There are no tracks from the early releases (including Twoism) on here, so I'm thinking that these are compilations of tracks they made that didn't fit on their "official" releases.
Which makes me wonder about the "35 Track Tape". I'm thinking somebody had these two Old Tunes tapes, and at least some of the early "official" releases, and compiled their favorite 35 tracks together. I forget, what was the origin of the 35 Track Tape?

Perhaps the old tunes are like BoC doing a "RDJ Soundcloud dump" in the 90s. Considering that they actually were relatively "new tunes" at the time like someone in the YT comments pointed out. They were so ahead of their time that they planned it all out in advance.

Before I go through the trouble of creating my own, has anyone separated and tagged the tracks? :)
