What BoC song first got you in the “feels”?

After listening to this new gorgeous masterpiece from the brothers, and almost getting brought to tears from the sounds themselves and the moment, it got me thinking back to the first time I felt that with BoC. I am curious, what was the first song that hit “home” so to speak for you guys? The one(s) that almost make you cry with joy for how personal the song feels. For me that was “Over the Horizon Radar” and the bittersweet progression in Orange Romeda. Would love to hear other’s experiences and stories.

I heard BOC for the first time in my friend’s bedroom in highschool ca. 2008. He played Wildlife Analysis off his macbook through these bose computer speakers (we were inside this closet in his room that felt like a portal into another world). I can vividly remember the music opening up something in myself that I’d never felt before… and this had nothing to do with any of the superficial associations with the band - I didn’t know about them or Warp, and he didn’t say anything, and in that moment they became my favorite artist.

I also cried at the Super Mario movie in the theatre.. Princess Peach and Rosalina explosion scene at the end made me feel 'feels'

"Wildlife Analysis" was my first thought too. In 2008 as a matter of fact. It's a nice topic but pinning down the "first" track is a bit tricky. I found BoC in early 2008 after listening to a couple of previews on last.fm. I immediately, uh... bought their entire discography in FLAC and put on MHTRTC. Wildlife Analysis hit me really hard in the feels right away, like reconnecting with some profound personal mindspace I had known as child that I had lost touch with. I actually avoided listening to it again in order to protect that feeling.

Excellent track. When that remix came out it hit me hard. That melancholy haunting riff that continues in the background for most of the song always gets me. What a great introduction.

I felt that sense of reconnection too.
And I agree about Mr. Mistake. I remember thinking “is this where their sound is going for the next album?” I love the flute melody toward the end that sounds like Indian classic music so much.

Yeah, that is my favorite remix. So much going on. I also feel there is a similar composition and mix going on with Tape 05 and Protection of Happiness Generator/Sometimes Remix. Similar structure. And Wildlife Analysis also was one that hit me in a specific way too…. it sounded exactly like an “angular observation of wildlife” in a way. Took me right back to my childhood where I was obsessed with reptiles and spiders and animals of all kind, Funk And Wagnal’s Wildlife Encyclopedias…

The first one I heard: "In a Beautiful Place out in The Country" in 2001.

I got feels from Sixtyniner first, but then IABPOITC, especially Amo Bishop Roden, sealed the deal for me in terms of feels.

This is a tough question for sure but after some thought it’s gotta be You Could Feel the Sky. It unlocked something in me.

Haha nice. Excellent track. Pure texture in the strangest but best way.

I was a casual fan after hearing Oirectine, Sixtyniner, and Alpha and Omega. The song that really made me realize that these dudes were gonna be my favorite band? Left Side Drive

Same here but it was summer of 2003. Hit me straight in the abdominal butterfly-nest. Didn't "get" v3 until much later.

I think it might've been Olson. Was one of those "first of its kind" moments there've been similar of since. Like "Oh wow I didn't know this was a feeling I could have". You only ever get one of those for the first time.

I’m remembering Pete Standing Alone moving me to an extreme degree too.. the breakdown that happens and the percussion that sounds like terra cotta posts being scraped across the ground.
Odd Nosdam’s remix on Trans Canada Highway was big for me as well, and realizing how heavily BOC stood by cLOUDDEAD was almost too awesome for me to comprehend at first.

I struggle with this feeling also. I don't want to wear out Tape 05. I feel like, for some reason, I have to "save" BoC albums for the right environment and mindset.
