According to a Reddit post, a HD lossless rip of the Societas X Tape was just uploaded to rareboc.org

(I don't think you're allowed to directly link to this type of thing, but the link in the post was in a directory on rareboc . org / djmixes or posted on the subreddit)

Does anyone have any info on where this could have come from? There's no mention on the rareboc website at the moment

My equipment isn't set up properly so I haven't listened yet but IIRC the previous rip was 320kbps right?

I think the NTS stream on the original broadcast was 192kbps.

When they re-broadcast a few years later, they had upgraded to 256k.

Kinda makes no difference with this mix due to the quality of the source material but fuck it, a gain's a gain!

Yes, seems the lossy sourced ones don't gain much.

Some tracks do have more detail in high frequencies.

Evidently not all of it is. In addition to a few tracks that were already readily/commercially available (Devo, Stefan Zauner, Carl Matthews), the unknown "Soon The Queen Will Come Our Way" song is also presented here in lossless quality.



In other words, unless someone's identified this song, it seems this was leaked by someone with access to an original lossless source of the full mix (perhaps someone at Warp or NTS). In which case, the rest of the rip suggests most tracks were lossy sourced in the original mix.

It seems to have been uploaded by keyosc member PurpleMustache after he received it from a friend on discord as seen towards the bottom of this thread:

A friend of mine hangs out in the The Magic Window discord, and I don’t and he pinged me for all of Sam’s new tape rips and the like. That’s what I was referring to.

I have absolutely no idea what the source is, but if that friend who hangs out in that discord is claiming it’s legit, I believe it.

I’m sure someone can hop in that discord and figure it out, but I’ll just assume it’s a leak from someone either in the NTS/Warp/BoC chain and hope that more NTS leaks come (gimme some of those United In Flames mix)
