which songs do you think would sound good covered by a band using pianos, guitars, and the like? I just heard Helios' covers of Melissa Juice, Sixtyniner, and Over the Horizon Radar. I can play OTHR on guitar, if anyone is interested in a tab, let me know.

I'll tell ya this. A lot of Geogaddi stuff is bound to be hard to cover. Lots of it is backwards or just really really impossible, like "A is to B..".
I'd like to hear Hey Saturday Sun.

Yeah, totally. A lot of their crazy ass interludes are pretty much impossible to duplicate. The stuff following a more song like structure should be easy enough, like tracks off Campfire.

I want to hear that melancholy little guitar segment at the end of 84 pontiac dream.

Why cover BoC tracks? They will NEVER be as good like the originals.

Yeah, the thing about boc tracks is that you can play the basic structure of the song but it ussually sounds kind of lame because the elements that make it really emotional are absent, like those windy sounds in o t h r.

I see covers as paying tribute to the song writing and structure of the original. It can never be as good, only different.
I love the Helios covers (its kinda like hearing what BoC would sound like if they were into jazz), but I will never love them more than the originals.

I can play the opening of Chromakey Dreamcoat on acoustic...basically its a C chord picked, but the guitar has to be tuned down a whole step..probably not too hard to figure out the whole song

lol i hate to sound like a stickler, but it's a half step down and you're playing 3 different 5add9 chords on B, G, and E
so it's like
7911xxx, then
357xxx, then
024xxx
but it's the same if you tune it down a whole step and play it on C. whatever floats your boat.

I know quite a few boc licks on the ol' geetar. I'm away from my shabby little recording studio but I still can record a bit here. My favorite thing to do is to figure out the boc songs that sound like they could never be played acoustically. I have a pretty decent ear and I hear the possibilities in many unlikely songs. And yes, for the most part those interludes are too crazy to figure out. Those things are liked molded sound, detuned and melodies are all unbalanced falling all over the place. Anyway, If anyone ever knows a boc song on the guitar I'd be stoked to hear it on these forums. Even if its just plain acoustic and nothing else, hit it up.

It would be hard. I heard (though I could be flat out wrong) that most of their stuff is real instruments and sounds filtered with random shows and clips mixed in. So playing just acoustic alone would be difficult to get the real sound of the songs. But some you could. I could see Nlogax played on a electric guitar 80's style.
