what's your main musical-discovery of the year? / it doesn't have to be the album, which was released exactly this year... but generally, the most precious artist/band of the year.

The artist i've been listening to the most this year was Siobhan Fahey..Her first solo record will be out in February i think.

I think Apparat - Shapemodes EP will be the one I would pick

but if you ask me the same question again within a month I would say something else I guess

there a lot of them, and at the same time - there iis nothing new/special

but i think the most precious for me are:
daedelus - of snowdonia
frou frou
tim hecker
and again schneider tm & kpt.michi.gan track, i discover it again and again, though with different shapes

that's all mixture i invent from myself this second.

i think it would be jeff buckley,rhythm & sound, sytetika, masonna,fragile state.

well, what i'm gonna speak about was not discovered by me this year, i know about this guy for a while, but.. just wanted to tell you guys if maybe you haven't heard about him

it's andrew broder, aka fog [http://fogtimewaster.com]

his records are released on ninja tune/zen, and he is totally great.
what's the best about him is the fact that he actually plays all the instruments by himself - piano, guitars, drums, turntables, vocals etc.! of course, on live acts he is supported by his band

fog's music is undescribable - something that goes from indie-pop to abstract downtempo with lots of turnablism, great using of samples, and vocals. he's the man

if you haven't heard any of his songs - go and find them!

In a slow process, from 1999 to 2001, I got into Radiohead and eventually discovered the likes of PJ Harvey, Flaming Lips, Bjork, Sigur Ros, etc...

In 2002 I discovered trip-hop and became obsessed with the likes of Massive Attack, Portishead, Tricky, etc.

In 2003 I discovered the so-called Intelligent Dance Music category and began listening to Boards of Canada a lot, as well as some Autechre and Squarepusher....

This year, I discovered My Bloody Valentine and have been listening to a lot of their stuff as well as some of their peers (Slowdive, etc.)....so the group of the year for me was My Bloody Valentine....

As the year draws to a close however, I have began listening to a little bit of Allison Krauss and other light bluegrass/folk/country-ish artists so that should be a preview of what next years music scene will be like for me....
