Whats your favorite album of his?
I really enjoy Music For Films, every little tune just has its hook, Inland Sea is just a perfect song in my opinion, love that beautifull synth line and the shore sounds.
Apollo is probally my favorite,..its very spacious and consistent, with a great concept.
I really enjoy The Secret Place, Signals, and Always Returning.
Ive got discreet music on vinyl and its lovely giving it a spin before sleeptime.
Onland is great, but i dont enjoy the atmospheres it evokes as much as i do apollo.

Tough call. The whole ambient series is killer. Shutov Assembly is a classic. I really love Another Green World as well. Apollo has An Ending (Ascent) though. Probably one of the best instrumental tracks of all time.

A lovely album to be sure, but I definitely have to be in the mood for it.

Well, I'll be honest. I've only really listened to Apollo, and much of it I need to be really stoned to even get to the end of the track. There are a couple of amazing stand-out tracks that are really beautiful (An Ending, Ascent springs to mind obviously) but on the whole that sparse soundscape stuff doesnt do it for me at all.
and off at a tangent, an ending (ascent), (also Vletrmx21 by Autechre) are absolutely great, beautiful ambient works. Could somebody who knows more about this stuff recommend me something more along these lines?

At the moment it's Before and After Science, Taking Tiger Mountain and My Life in the Bush of Ghosts. I need more Eno.

I have only heard a few, but Ambient 2: The Plateaux of Mirror with Harold Budd is great. He is another guy that is hard to get into because I don't know where to start. Someday though...

Start with Apollo, or Music For Airports

I love Eno, mainly the ambient stuff.
For me though some of the best stuff is with Harold Budd. Someone else mentioned The Plateux of Mirror. Brilliant, beautiful and haunting. The same can be said for The Pearl. Both albums are total gems. I must have listened to them over a thousand times since I've had them.
They get played most nights of the week when I'm in bed at night. They really are total bliss.
HIGHLY recommended.
Take it easy, kozmikoid..
