Anybody know what's going on with Aphex these days? I mean, I know about the Hangable Bulb reissue, but is he intending to release some new material or he is retired or what?

um, he did the ol' rubber johnny collaberation with chris cunningham pretty recently, didn't he?

maybe he's making some new stuff atm

'05 has been the busiest RDJ year for a long long time, why don't you give the man a breather, eh?

I could do with a Surfing on Sine Waves reissue with a bonus disc with some outtakes though, that would have been sweet

'05 has been tremendously busy for RDJ, he released no less than 13 EPs (only one reissue), mostly on Rephlex which is why his hard work may be more difficult to come by as opposed to Warp releases.

I sure hope he releases a new warp album in a year or two though.

I'm with you that Polygon Window project from RDJ was fantastic, a new album would be better than a reissue for me! Analord is not the best thing he ever did, but that's my opinion.

very true. I was hoping analord should be more like the polygon/caustic window stuff, or maybe even some analogue bubblebath stylings, but alas.

Ok, I have a question for all you Aphex heads. I have a mix of a bunch of his tracks, does anyone know the name of the track that starts off with the kid saying "stop making that big face"? I'm just curious cause it's a good track and I would like to title it for my ipod. Thanks.

Thanks man, and yeah it's fuckin killer. I made that mix ages ago and forgot what I put on it. I'm really not a huge Aphex fan, but some of his tracks are really good.

must admit im not a huge fan myself but songs like 'hexagon' and 'xtal' hit me straight in the chest. especially xtal and not only because its such a beautiful tune but because of when it was made!!!! fairly fuckin impressive.

It's difficult for me to pic my favourite track from AFX, i lke his Selected Ambient works I & II very much, and also Polygon Window_Surfing On Sin Waves, maybe is Aesthetics right and is IZ-US, one of his best tracks ever

strange isnt it? ive been listening to selected ambient works vol.2 for like 4 hours now, and am wondering why i never took the time to play it properly before. it seems to happen to me too much these days. buying something, kinda putting it on, forgetting about it, then coming back to it weeks/months or even years later. maybe i just find that something suits my mood at the time and other things dont. and i think sometimes my brain is less open to new things than id like it to be.

Your not alone with that, i'm buying records for over 30 years now, i have a big variety, always playing music that fits my mood at that time, and over the years discover new things in those records i have and heard before, and still buying more records, it's an addiction, but i'm glad that my brain is still open for new things.

I'm the same way. I have 2 Manual albums I got over a year ago and skipped through them once and threw em on the shelf. Now I'm really enjoying them. I think mood has a lot to do with music.

I've actually done the same thing with SawII, I have yet to listen to both discs from beginning to end.
Oh shit, I just realized he's releasing chosen Analord tracks on cd. I have'nt heard any of the Analord stuff, believe it or not, so I'll be buying this!
