I just heard Gerry Rafferty's "Baker Street" and I heard a similar noise in that song. the growl could be a mangled version of that. What does you all think?

It's there. It plays during the sax solo. It's much shorter than the Pete "growl."

What time does this growl happen in Pete Standing Alone

May I just say that I LOVE how hard the bass hits in that song.

Pete Standing Alone was the first Boards of Canada song I ever liked. Classic.

If they sampled that directly, there would be drums and shit over it. Sounds like some old mangled piece of speech to me.

I don't believe that sounds anything like the pete standing alone growl. For one thing, the growl in that video is going down, when the one in pete is slightly going up and definetly not going down.

in pete standing alone, it sounds more like speech slowed down with a lot of wetness on it. it could be speech from the documentary "pete standing alone". i still need to see it.

To me the "growl" is actually a sample of someone saying "orange." I'm really serious.

By saying the "growl" do you mean the constantly played clip....? Because that is definatly "orange".

hmm ive always kinda passed this 'growl off' as an awesome sound but i can see how it is orange

i remember when all the pieces of this song came together for me...i got chills at the intricacy and detail that is put into it....not that every boards of canada song doesnt have those subtle nuances tucked away in every millisecond, but there is something about the way this song unravels that truly makes it stand alone...no pun intended...

My favorite part of the track is the "cassette being pushed into the deck" noise. It plays throughout the track, but you can really hear it at the 5:04 mark.

do you reckon thats what that noise is?? i had never thought of that before... interesting!
