sound logos

...Okay so one of BOC's important musical influences was obviously corporate sound logos--particularly ones from the 70's/80's. I was thinking maybe we could discuss our favorite ones (if we have any) and maybe if they're harder to find, because they're vintage, we could post 'em?

I'll start. This one's rather obvious. I bought the Old School Sesame Street DVD set a few months ago and the old PBS logo at the end brought back so many memories! Man, that 'P' shaped like a head? And the cool synth chords? Totally classic.

Also, a current favorite of mine is the Metro PCS "Hello, hello, hello" ID. Makes me wanna switch to them for solely that reason.

A couple of my favorites are the famous Screen Gems "S From Hell" logo. I nver found this to be scary as so many people claim, just a beautiful synthy sound. I also love the original Rankin & Bass logo as seen at the end of Frosty The Snowman and Rudolph The Red-Nosed Raindeer. These both can be found on YouTube in many incarnations.

The Thames, HBO, and LBS logos nearly drown me in nostalgia.

Here's another classic that can be seen at the opening of George Romero's Day Of The Dead

Oddly enough it almost sets the tone for the movie on the old VHS copies. I hear that's the reason they put it on the DVD release, too.
